Throwback Thursday:

A year later, and I’m finally ready to share this part of my story and journey 💙🧿

Last year, I danced in my very first ballet recital alongside five other of my super brave & bold adult ballet-mates. This was the first time that @balletofphx had considered the adult program to be apart of the school’s spring performance. Out of allllll the adult students there are… only six of us stepped up.

I told no one about it except for my husband, parents and two cousins.
I invited no one but my husband.
I did that, not from fear or a lack of support, but out of protection & honor of 4-year-old Stasia whose childhood ballet dream ended just as quickly as it started — a flicker✨
And although I’ve participated in The Nutcracker for the last four years, that is simply not a recital.

Little Stasia never had this opportunity nor did she ever fathom that 37-year-old me would not only study+practice classical ballet, but also help pioneer an entire adult ballet community — both in studio and online.

I am proof, time and time again, that the alchemy of turning your pain into purpose can eventually equal power and profit!
I am SO FREAKING PROUD OF ME and there’s nothing anyone can do about it🐦‍🔥

Thank y’all soooo deep for rocking with me.

Six years ago, I moved to Phoenix and decided to take up ballet to help myself through the pandemic.
Learning a plié warmup combo was my only goal.

Unbeknownst to me, I jumped down a rabbit hole 🤣🙌🏽!

Yesterday, I danced my first ballet solo on live television🐦‍🔥.

God be showing out, you hear me!🙌🏽 Representation and accessibility hella matter!!!

“Remember NOT the former things, neither consider the things of old.
See! I am doing a new thing. It is springing up, can you not see it?
I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”
