Visibility matters.

At the same time that we were competing in the WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup there was an all girls team - The Ballgirls - competing in the Ripken’s Cooperstown All Star Village 12u tournament.

And because our games were streamed they were able to watch - unlocking a new dream and a new drive.

This video is the Ballgirls imitating the Women’s National Team’s home run celebration.

When I first saw this video I cried. It represents that what we are doing is working and worth it! To awaken a dream in a kid and give them someone to look up to is everything.

More often than not, these girls face resistance, harassment and discrimination just because they want to play this wonderful sport of baseball.

If you hear me on my soapbox talking about creating more opportunities and open mindedness around girls in baseball - it’s because these girls and these women deserve better.

One quote our women’s national team embodies is:
“The strength of the pack is the wolf. The strength of the wolf is the pack.”

You mess with the wolf. You get the pack.

Ballgirls, and every little girl like the ballgirls… we are your pack and we forever have your back. So DO NOT silence yourselves and DO NOT stop pursuing your dreams.

We see you, we were once you. Now we are doing everything in our power to make sure that you can become us with as little resistance as possible.

Representation matters. by @ballgirlsbaseball
