At Balm to Bloom, wellbeing is about nurturing the whole child. These eight pillars are at the heart of the approach:

πŸ’— Emotional Wellbeing β€” helping children understand, express and navigate their feelings.

🫧 Mindfulness & Sensory β€” creating moments to slow down, notice, explore and connect with the senses.

πŸ“ Nutrition β€” encouraging a positive, nourishing relationship with food and everyday healthy choices.

πŸ€ΈπŸ»β€β™€οΈ Movement β€” supporting joyful movement, body awareness and active play.

🎨 Creativity β€” making space for imagination, self-expression, curiosity and creating freely.

🀝🏼 Connection β€” nurturing meaningful bonds, communication, belonging and togetherness.

πŸŒ™ Routines β€” creating gentle rhythms that bring children consistency, comfort and security.

🌿 Nature β€” encouraging children to explore, appreciate and feel connected to the natural world.

Eight different areas, all connected by one belief: supporting a child means nurturing the whole child.

Nurture today. Flourish tomorrow. 🀍

before pinterest boards, digital illustrations, or endless art supplies, my mum sat down with a few sketch pens, a notebook, and a lot of creativity.

she hand-sketched and wrote over 20 nursery rhymes into a book, filling each page with colourful drawings and carefully handwritten verses.

as a child, it was simply my book. i loved it, read it, and asked for it at bedtime. i never stopped to think about how much time, patience, and care had gone into creating it.

i came across it recently while sorting through old things and found myself sitting with it for quite a while.

what stands out now is not just the notebook itself, but what it represents. someone invested their time, energy, creativity, and attention into creating something for a child.

it also reflects something we often overlook β€” how children don’t need elaborate tools or complex systems to feel engaged. they respond most to simple, consistent human connection.

through my work at balm to bloom, i’ve come to see that holistic child wellness is built in moments like these.

children thrive when caring adults intentionally engage with them. when they read stories together, sing songs, create, explore, listen, and make space for connection.

these interactions don’t need to be perfect or planned in advance. what matters is the consistency and emotional availability behind them.

looking through these pages, i’m reminded that childhood is shaped in countless small moments that often seem ordinary at the time.

my mum made this over 25 years ago with whatever she had available to her. i’m 30 now, and it’s still one of the most precious things i own.

not because it’s perfect, but because it was created with care.

and perhaps that’s what children remember long after the details have faded. 🀍

miss honey from matilda left a deeper impact on me than i realized πŸ“š
authority and fear were never her tools. what stayed with me instead was her kindness ✨

her classroom was a sanctuary where every student was seen as an individual. it was a space where they felt safe and capable.

she didn’t lead with a loud voice. instead, leadership came through:
β€’ 🌱 patience that allowed for mistakes
β€’ πŸ•ŠοΈ gentleness that built trust
β€’ πŸ’‘ belief that unlocked potential

watching her shaped my understanding of what education should be 🍎
instruction matters, but care and connection come first. she showed up with warmth, even when her own life wasn’t easy.

to me, miss honey represents the heart of holistic education 🌈
making room for joy is the standard i carry forward in my own work.

financial literacy in early childhood is not about teaching complex concepts.
it is about helping children understand money in simple, everyday ways πŸ’

children begin to learn through what they see and hear around them πŸ‘€

spending helps them understand choice πŸ›οΈ
they learn that they can’t have everything at once and begin to think about what they really want.

saving introduces patience πŸͺ΄
they start to understand that waiting allows them to have something more meaningful later.

cost builds awareness πŸ’°
they begin to notice that different things require different amounts of money.

value goes deeper than cost 🀍
they learn that not everything important has a high price, and not everything expensive is necessary.

importance helps guide decisions 🌱
they begin to understand why we choose some things over others.

these ideas don’t need to be taught formally ✨
they can be introduced through simple conversations and daily moments.

over time, this builds a healthy and balanced relationship with money. one that feels clear and secure 🀍 taken in Dubai, United Arab Emirates by @balmtobloom

I turned my old plushies into an affirmation series!

Each piece is created through a holistic wellness and early childhood lens, supporting rest, emotional safety, self expression, belonging, resilience, and love. Choosing these soft companions felt intentional, they are often a child’s first source of comfort, security, and imagination.

sometimes the simplest activities nurture a child’s mind the most. colouring isn’t just play. it’s a gentle way for children to explore creativity, emotions, and focus.

why colouring matters in early childhood:

πŸ–οΈ supports fine motor development
holding crayons and colouring within shapes strengthens the small muscles in a child’s hands, preparing them for writing and everyday tasks.

🌈 encourages emotional expression
children often express feelings through colour and drawing before they can put them into words.

🧠 builds focus and patience
quiet creative activities help children practice attention and concentration in a calm, enjoyable way.

🌿 creates a moment of calm
colouring slows the mind and body, offering children a peaceful break from stimulation.

sometimes, nurturing growth is as simple as handing a child a colouring book and letting their imagination lead the way.

wellness, especially in early childhood, isn’t built through pressure or rigid routines. it grows through rhythm. nourishing meals, restful sleep, time outdoors, play, and warm connection.

when children feel safe within gentle rhythms, their bodies and minds naturally learn how to regulate, explore, and grow.

true wellness isn’t about doing everything perfectly. it’s about creating a supportive environment where children can move, rest, learn, and bloom at their own pace.

sometimes, the healthiest growth happens quietly when life flows with the child, not against them β™‘ taken in Dubai, United Arab Emirates by @balmtobloom

a colourful bowl like this is a beautiful way to introduce children to balanced, whole foods. simple ingredients, vibrant colours, and varied textures help make nourishing meals both exciting and satisfying.

a child’s inner world is filled with wonder, curiosity, imagination, and questions. spiritual wellbeing begins by giving children the space to explore that inner world gently, helping them feel connected to themselves, to others, to nature, and to something greater than themselves.

for a child, faith does not need to mean having all the answers. it can simply mean learning to trust, to hope, and to find comfort even when life feels uncertain. through quiet moments, gratitude, reflection, prayer, time in nature, meaningful traditions, and loving conversations, children can begin to develop their own sense of connection and belonging.

spiritual guidance is not about telling a child exactly what to believe or feel. it is about nurturing their natural sense of wonder while creating a safe space for questions, emotions, and discovery. when children are encouraged to listen to their inner voice, practise kindness, notice the beauty around them, and understand that they are part of something beyond themselves, we nurture more than their minds and bodies. we nurture their spirit too.

holistic wellbeing means caring for the whole child β€” mind, body, heart, and spirit. when children feel safe, loved, connected, and grounded, they are given something deeply valuable: the freedom to grow into themselves while knowing they never have to navigate their inner world alone β™‘ by @balmtobloom
