💬 Comment “VILNIUS” and I’ll send you my free Vilnius guide with the best things to do, viewpoints, map + local tips 🇱🇹🍂🗺️
📸 Follow @theroadreel for more Lithuania travel tips.

Vilnius in autumn is all low soft light, copper-colored parks, church towers, red rooftops, damp cobblestones, and the sudden need to drink hot coffee every couple of hours.

A few things I’d do in Vilnius in autumn:

📍 Wander the UNESCO-listed Old Town
📍 Walk Pilies, Literatų, Stiklių, Bernardinų, and Aušros Vartų streets
📍 Climb Gediminas Hill for red rooftops and autumn trees
📍 Walk through Bernardine Garden and up to Three Crosses Hill
📍 Visit St. Anne’s Church, Vilnius Cathedral, and the Gate of Dawn
📍 Look for quiet courtyards hiding behind old gates
📍 Cross into Užupis for street art, river views, and a different mood
📍 Warm up in specialty coffee shops between walks

Best timing? Late September to mid-October is usually the safest window for autumn colors. After that, Vilnius becomes more grey, more moody, and rainy.

🇪🇪 I honestly didn’t expect to find a place like this in Estonia.

I found it by chance on Google Maps—the turquoise water immediately caught my attention! 🩵 Then I discovered the story behind it…

During the Soviet era, prisoners from the nearby Murru Prison worked in the limestone quarry. After the quarry closed and pumping stopped, groundwater flooded the area, creating this surreal turquoise lake with parts of the old structures beneath the surface.

🤿 Today, you can visit the prison museum, dive, swim, hike the ash hill, explore the quarry, or even stay overnight.

🚌 It’s around 1h30 from Tallinn by bus.

I truly recommend visiting Rummu! 😍
