Emerson got to have his first experience at Camp Tekakwitha. While there is non stop fun to have, his favorites were his buddies, zip lining, bible study, and his counselor Luke. We can’t say enough about all the work these camp counselors put in. Working through the heat all Summer they make every experience special for these kids week after week.

Happy 16th to our remarkable kid! Watching you grow into the person you are today has been one of our greatest joys. From 19 months to 19 years old today.

This year has been a big one for us as “big kid” parents… and with you leading the way as the oldest, we’ve learned more than we ever expected. Mostly that you don’t need us nearly as much as we thought — just a little space, a little trust, and you absolutely take off.

You know exactly what you want, and it’s been incredible to watch you go after it. From succeeding in school, to KKG, to stepping back onto the soccer field (we cannot wait to watch you play on those KU fields!), to leading as president of the pre pharmacy club… you just keep showing up and making things happen.

Your birthday feels a little different this year without you here, and we miss you more than words can say. Not a day goes by that we don’t think about you, laugh about one of your sayings or wish we could sit down with you for just one piece of advice. And your knowledge of celebrity gossip mixed with a little sassy was unmatched.
