Sometimes I just need to laugh after a really difficult shift on the COVID unit.

Let's talk about CONCEPT MAPPING!

Concept Maps are one of my favorite ways to study and brush up on my clinical reasoning.

I used them throughout my time as an EMT to keep up my A&P knowledge and to further explore the role of interprofessional collaboration in promoting health and wellness.

I first learned how to concept map in preparation for nursing school (the first attempt), and struggled to figure out how to organize everything. Like any skill, I knew that it would require a lot of practice and feedback to look solid, and even more for it to look great.

There's always something that can be improved!

Today, I submitted my first concept map of the semester as part of a group assignment and I'm feeling really grateful for all the experience I've gained in the five years that passed since I dropped out of my first nursing program. Great vibes all around today!

Life update: I'm in nursing school now!

The last few months have been so challenging, but SO worth it.

One of my favorite things to do on vacation is check out the local fire department. Because of the pandemic, I wasn't able to drop by any of Honolulu FD's stations. Instead, I got lucky and saw a rescue returning to their base station after a training session with Fed Fire at Pearl Harbor Shipyard! by @bamberventures

Christmas came early this year!

Earlier this summer, I ended up leaving a volunteer position @centralkitsapfire to support my partner's transfer to Upstate New York in his military career. The folks at CKFR are without a doubt the most supportive people I've ever had the honor of working with!

Leaving the department was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. This is a department that was always eager to provide me with opportunities for growth and never stopped inspiring and challenging me to be a better EMT and community member every day.

I miss you all so very much, and I'm so grateful for all the love and support you've been able to provide me for the short year and a half I worked with you! I hope someday our paths may cross again, and I hope you all are taking care! by @bamberventures

After seven years, I FINALLY got a chance pay my respects to Duke Kahanamoku. I'm proud to be a part of his legacy as a lifesaver and waterwoman and can only hope to further bring the spirit of aloha to my work as a first responder and emergency manager! by @bamberventures
