Desolate traverses are where I come alive. Going from peak to peak with unknown chaos lurking just beyond what I can see. No one around. No dot com directions. Going with gut feelings. Keeping calm during high stakes decisions in precarious situations. So close to civilization yet so far away.

Huron to the north apostle on ridges was gnarly. Pretty much spent my day above 13,000’ navigating between heaven and hell.

Lately I’ve been finding the climbs that look daunting to be doable and the ones that look fine to be a struggle. I almost bailed the notchtop spiral route, i starred at it to much. After a few dead ends, I found the groove and twisted my way around the solid challenge. Glad I gave it a whirl, it was my toughest climb yet.

Last nite I saw some aliens. They spoke 0 English but used their instruments to communicate peace to a crowd of spectators. Their body language and unique sounds led me to believe they were highly skilled and like to have fun. Space must be a great place. @anginedepoitrine by @bambloozer

I should hike longs more often. I dig all the options to get up top. Today’s way of ascending was the cables route. It has the bonus of chasm view and getting away from the crowd. Ironically the deadliest 14er is the most crowded.

The Recycler is one of Colorado’s most iconic backyard ramps. @bambloozer has been saving scraps from dying ramps around the state to compile a ramp that is both unique and challenging. Our crews stepped up in a big way to this terrain and had a ripping session with @timmystevens333 for #TimmyStevensWeek. Thanks Jerry and Timmy for such a great week! by @bambloozer

I play lots of games with myself out there. Can I stay on the ridge proper? how far can I go without using my hands? Can I find the trail without gps? How long can I walk before I have to stop to get some air? How can I avoid traffic on the way home?
Lots of games on the A-basin traverse.
Cupid, grizzly, black, lenawee, a-basin north pole AND rotary peak for the loop.

I’ve been enticed to do this traverse for a while. I’ve seen it from the north, the south and east below- amazed at the tower sizes and peak profiles. This is what I live for lately, an intense challenge culminating in amazing views, persevering endurance, life or death scrambling skills and route finding through good research.
12 hours of using my mountain powers.
Shoshoni, the chessmen, Apache, Navajo, and niwot ridge from Brainard lake was a game well played.
