Behind the scenes at BAMO | Moments that shape our creative world

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

If design doesn’t work out, there’s always baking, pop stardom, or farming. A solid backup plan, though we’re feeling pretty good about Plan A.

Postcard from Japan! 🎌

A Tokyo travel diary from @anne.wilkinson.bamo, who joined the 5th Hospitality Japan Conference for a conversation on hyperlocal luxury and why the most compelling international hotels still feel distinctly of their place.

A global perspective is wonderful. A local point of view is essential. After more than 30 years of BAMO working in Japan, and with our first hotel project in the country underway, there was plenty to discuss.

And where there's international work, there's international play! Anne caught up with @tansoonchern of @kkaa_official, bunnycatwindow of @lasvitdesign, and Phillip Pond of @atelierpond at @1HotelTokyo.

ありがとう, Tokyo. Always a pleasure!

What does “Wine Country design” mean today?

During Design Healdsburg, we had the opportunity to explore that question with three distinct perspectives, each bringing a unique approach to creating luxury residential and hospitality experiences in Healdsburg, Sonoma County, and the broader Wine Country region.🪾

Thank you to Craig Wilkerson of @bar.architecture.interiors, Andrew Lieberman of @avroko, and Samara Cramer of @bamoinc for sharing how your firms approach luxury through a unique design lens, and how landscape, locality, materiality and experience can inspire spaces that feel deeply connected to the region while continuing to push its design language forward.

✨️ A special thank you to @maryjbowling of @luxemagazine for guiding the conversation and helping us unpack what designing for Wine Country means today. Not as a singular aesthetic, but as a place that invites diverse interpretations and distinct points of view.

A lot of moving. A lot of shaking. A lot of meetings about said moving and shaking.

The past two weeks:
Celebrated @alisonbergerglassworks's launch at @desousahughes
@bamoinc turned 35 (Botox free, thank you for asking)
We threw our hat in the ring at the @cooritalia/ @elementidesignstudio competition (we did not win, but @pamelalastiri did and we remain gracious in defeat)
Had a field trip to @cooritalia
Samara headed north to speak at Design Healdsburg @design.bayarea

And somewhere in between: meetings meetings meetings, projects projects projects, emails emails emails.

The 95% complete stage requires an immense amount of trust. And perhaps waiting until the drapery is up

Somewhere between The Rolling Stones and Taylor Swift, which feels exactly right. A little rock, a little pop, and absolutely no genre loyalty.

From Palm Beach participants to New York spectators 🗽

After our turn in Palm Beach this February, Samara + Sergio took a spin through the New York @kbshowhouse for a little design reconnaissance and to see what this year’s designers have been dreaming up.

Bravo to all of this year’s designers and to Kips Bay for another incredible Show House!

Napa First Street Hotel is taking shape! 🏗️

Windows are in, more walls are up, and the structure is starting to feel whole. Every phase brings us closer to welcoming guests to this exciting new destination in downtown Napa.

Let me know what you think about the progress.

Back at @bvwines with the team, this time as guests. 🍷

There’s so much history in this place, and after having the privilege of becoming part of its story, it was incredibly special to come back together and experience it from the other side.

10/10 field trip, highly recommend!
