👑 For Sale 💫🌿 A Brand New Pair of The Nike SB x MF Doom Sneaker’s Size 10.5. The sneaker features MF DOOM’s signature graffiti logo embroidered on the collar, a mask graphic stamped on the tongue, and striking red laces. Gunmetal grey leather and faux ostrich skin overlays reflect the metallic mask and armor worn by MF DOOM (inspired by Marvel’s Doctor Doom). The insoles showcase MM..FOOD album art and a “Detective Doom” graphic, while the translucent outsoles reveal printed character graphics underneath. Built on the success of early Nike SB music collaborations, bridging skate culture with underground rap and earlier music partnerships like Nike SB’s work with De La Soul. Originally retailed for $150, but scarcity and MF DOOM’s passing pushed the value into the thousands. The sneaker is now seen as a valuable piece of hip-hop history and skate culture. 💫 ⚜️🛹📻 🖼️ — 🔊 Dumile Daniel Thompson created the MF Doom character as an alter ego with a backstory he could reference in his music. After his brother’s death, Dumile retreated from the hip hop scene from 1994 to 1997, living “damn near homeless, walking the streets of Manhattan, sleeping on benches” In the late 1990s, he settled in Atlanta; he had moved to Georgia in the mid-90s. According to Dumile, he was “recovering from his wounds” and vowing revenge “against the industry that so badly deformed him”. Previously apart of the hip hop group KMD with his brother DJ Subroc, but the record label they were signed to Elektra Records blocked the release after Dumile’s brothers death. —- 👾🐉 The character MF DOOM combines elements from the Marvel Comics supervillain Doctor Doom, Destro, and the Phantom of the Opera; like Doctor Doom and Phantom, Dumile referred to himself in the third person while in character. His signature mask was similar to that of Doctor Doom, who is depicted rapping on the cover of Dumile’s 1999 debut album Operation: Doomsday 🚧⚠️ —- After MF Dooms death, the producer Flying Lotus wrote of Madvillainy: “All u ever needed in hip-hop was this record. Sorted. Done. Give it to the f**king aliens.” 👾🛸 by @bananastand
