Before I start cutting, I want her to actually see what I’m seeing.

I’m showing her where the split ends and breakage are, explaining what needs to come off, and making sure she’s comfortable with my recommendation.

And sometimes just dusting the very ends isn’t enough. If we want to create a healthier foundation, we have to remove what’s already compromised.

This is her first appointment, so we’re building the foundation. As she continues with her treatments and home care, we should start seeing and feeling more improvement with every visit.

Healthy hair is a process — and I want my client to understand every step of it.

Part 1. She texturized her hair the morning of her appointment after taking down her braids — and that changed what her hair needed from me that day.

During our consultation, I could still detect the chemical service, so before moving forward with her silk press, my priority was thoroughly cleansing and neutralizing the hair, followed by treatment based on what I was seeing and feeling.

This is why I ask questions before I start. I’m not just following whatever service was booked — I’m adjusting the appointment to what your hair actually needs that day.

✨ Healthy hair first. Beautiful silk press second.

After completing her treatment, & straighting her hair the next step was addressing the ends.

I wanted her to see exactly what I was seeing. Her ends were thin, uneven, and no longer supporting the overall health or shape of her hair.

And this is why communication during a trim is so important.

I explained why the damaged ends needed to be removed, showed her exactly how much I recommended cutting, and made sure she was comfortable before I started.

A healthy-hair journey isn’t about cutting more than necessary. It’s about making intentional decisions together and creating a plan that your client can maintain.

This appointment is only the beginning. The real transformation will come through consistency, proper care, and her following up for her next appointment. taken in Bandoo Salon & spa by @bandoosalonspaa

It’s not always about how much hair we cut. It’s about how the hair falls. ✨

The shape, movement, and how it fits your everyday styling matter just as much as the finish.

The real test isn’t just how your hair looks when you leave my chair.

My client comes every three weeks, and hearing her talk about how much more manageable her fine hair has become, the fullness she’s noticing, and how her style holds up between visits—even with humidity—is the conversation I love having. ❤️

Sometimes, adding more product isn’t the answer.
My client had been wearing braids and using quite a bit of Blue Magic.

We talked about how too much heavy product can weigh her hair down instead of giving her the movement she wants.

We also addressed her split ends to reduce snagging while preserving her length.

Because beautiful, manageable hair isn’t always about what you’re adding.

Sometimes it’s about knowing what your hair no longer needs. ✨ taken in Bandoo Salon & spa by @bandoosalonspaa

And this is why I don’t automatically agree when a client tells me she wants to cut all her hair off.
Because my next question is, okay, once we cut it, what’s your plan for maintaining it?

Are you looking for something that’s easier to manage? How often are you realistically coming into the salon? And does that new length actually work with your lifestyle?

With this particular client, we were discussing her ends and how much needed to come off. But as the conversation continued, it became clear that preserving her length was still important to her.

So instead of rushing into a major haircut, I wanted her to see what I was seeing and understand the recommendation.

And I think that’s something we have to consider more often.

A haircut can look beautiful when you leave the salon, but what happens two weeks later when you’re getting ready for work?

When you’re traveling? When you don’t have the time or desire to style your hair every morning?
That’s the part I’m thinking about.

Because sometimes the issue isn’t whether you can wear a certain haircut. It’s whether that haircut makes sense for the way you live. taken in San Antonio, Texas by @bandoosalonspaa

Part:1 Shorter doesn’t always mean easier. ✂️

If detangling your hair at home feels harder than it should, that doesn’t automatically mean your hair is “difficult.” 🤎

Sometimes your hair simply needs the right care, the right products, and a better understanding of what it needs right now.

When you sit in my chair, I’m not just focused on giving you a pretty finished style. I want to know what you’ve been experiencing at home, what feels challenging, what you’ve been using, and what your hair goals are.
That’s why your consultation matters.

Once we understand what your hair needs, we can choose the proper cleansing, conditioning treatment, and maintenance plan to help improve softness, manageability, and the overall health of your hair.

And sometimes, part of that care means giving your ends the proper cut they need so your hair can move and behave better.

You should be able to enjoy your hair between appointments too, not just on the day you leave the salon.

If you’re ready for a more intentional, personalized approach to your hair care, book your consultation. 🤎

Luxury isn’t just how your hair looks when you leave my chair. It’s knowing your stylist understands your hair before she ever picks up a tool. 🤎

When you sit in my chair, I don’t want our relationship to begin and end with, “What style are we doing today?”
I want to know your hair.

I want to understand what you’ve been doing at home, what has or hasn’t been working, what your lifestyle looks like, how you normally wear your hair, and what your long-term goals are.

That’s why I take the consultation seriously.
Whether you’re sitting in my chair for the very first time or you’ve trusted me with your hair for years, I’m paying attention to what I see and what may have changed since your last appointment.

Your hair won’t necessarily need the exact same thing at every visit.

Sometimes we need more moisture.
Sometimes we need to address breakage.
Sometimes we need to clarify buildup.
Sometimes we need to change what you’re doing between appointments.

And sometimes, my recommendation may be different from what you originally thought you needed.
That is what personalized hair care looks like.
My goal is to build a long-term relationship with you where you don’t have to start from zero every time you sit in the chair. I know your hair history. I know your goals. We communicate. We make adjustments. And together, we continue working toward hair that is healthy, manageable, polished, and beautiful.

Because the woman I serve isn’t looking for someone to just do her hair.

She wants a professional she can trust with it. ✨
If you’re looking for a stylist you can build a long-term healthy-hair relationship with—and an experience where your hair is cared for just as intentionally as it is styled—
I’d love to welcome you into my chair.

New clients: begin with your consultation.
