💜Thank you 🙏 to everyone who came out to Banh Mi Kart 🏎️🍄✨ it was a night full of friendly competition, creative chaos, and amazing vibes 🎉🔥

From designing our own Mario Kart racing machines 🎨🏁 to racing through Mario’s Adventure 🎲⭐ and chasing dragons in Catch the Dragon 🐉💨, everyone brought their competitive spirit and teamwork to the games 🏆😂

Today we had our biggest banh mi catering order yet, 165 banh mi. It took us about 3 weeks to prepare for this since we don't have a big kitchen. It's not much compared to other poplular banh mi shops. But it is a lot compared to what we were able to do a year ago. Thank you to @stonybrookvsa for giving us the opportunity to cater for you guys. My team went above and beyond with this monumental task. I am nothing without them taken in Foodie Town Flushing by @banh_mitbd

Today marks us officially open for business for a whole year.It's been a hard one year.... I can't fully express how hard it has been in words but I'm going to try.To start off, we almost didn't make it.I had to have a hard conversation with my sister in Jan when we came back from Vietnam because we didn't have money for rent.We were still staying afloat because of the funds we made during the previous season of the night market.But that fund ran out in Jan.We were talking about closing down.But something in me that didn't want to give up despite me being exhausted and truly didn't want to be in the shop anymore.I guess it's my pride speaking.So I told my sis to give me one more month.I'll be in the shop everyday, some days just myself because we can't afford to pay staff those days.My oldest brother helps me on Fridays and my sis helps me on Saturdays.Regardless,I'll be there everyday.Even on Mondays when the store is closed, I'll be there cooking and prepping for the coming week.And things turned for the better around the middle of March.It started with a random influencer named @springrollfever, she stumbled upon our shop and did a video on our vempanda. And that gave us some traction, then she came back with her friend @joulesgems. She did a video about our vempanda, fried bananas, and limeade, more traction, and that caught the attention of Ming and Ben with @bingbuzz. They did a short video of the shop and that's when things started to pick up for us.
To say that being a food establishment owner is hard is an understatement.It's constantly and perpetually hard.I don't even know if I'm using that word correctly.Everyday there's something new to tackle, good or bad.And I mean every...day... Whether it's the sink, the stove, the deep fryer, the food warmer, the fridge, the toaster.We went through 4 air fryer toaster ovens. Some days we ran out of random supplies or ingredients, fish sauce, soy sauce, paper bags, napkins, Coke, straws, cups, BREAD!One day I ran out of receipt paper, and that was a big problem because the receipts help us and customers keep track of the orders.Luckily my neighbor Jimmy had a spare.I ran out of space to write,I can't fit it all by @banh_mitbd
