POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Two years ago, I took a break from releasing music.

At that time, I felt disconnected from what I was doing: the music, the image, the story—none of it resonated with me. Fans would often meet me and say I didn’t act like what they expected Lil Waterboi to be, and they were right. It didn’t feel like me at all. The idea of Lil Waterboi came from a desire to create something daring, something that challenged stereotypes and defied categorization. And in some ways, it did. But after a lot of self-reflection, I realized that a lot of what I do already defies norms. I don’t need to create a persona to be different… I am different. From dropping out of my last year at McGill University as an Asian kid from an academic family, to starting @bahaycollective and helping shape the scene to make that kid who felt underrepresented proud, I’ve come to realize I don’t need Lil Waterboi anymore…

Going forward, I hope what I’m about to do helps me find the right people and if at any point, you no longer feel like you want to be a part of my journey, feel free to unfollow me, no hard feelings

Thanks for reading this far, and btw,

For my vietnamese friends, swipe til the end 🫶

“water” is my quiet goodbye to the past, a soft funeral for Lil Waterboi and a slow rebirth. My journey to rediscover myself has been unfolding over the last 2 years, and my trip to Vietnam is the latest chapter. This process isn’t about who listens or how many people hear it—it’s about finding me in the most authentic way possible.

I hope that in sharing my journey, others who are on the same path of self-discovery can find something meaningful, too.

“water” comes out February 5th (pre-save link in bio)

Find a quiet place—like your favorite spot on the couch or a warm bath. Let the music play from start to finish. Let yourself drift. 🌻 taken in Hole in My Soul by @banhmicowboy

Chúc mừng năm mới! 🐍🧧

Starting the year off by officially announcing my debut EP, “water”—dropping February 5th! It’s been a long time in the making, and I’m so grateful to everyone who’s been with me on this journey. This project is as much yours as it is mine 😌

If you’re wondering why I’m wearing a dress: Traditionally, Vietnamese people wear dresses (áo dài) to celebrate the Lunar New Year as a way to honor our roots—something at the heart of my EP, “water”

We’re so excited to finally announce our next chapter. On December 6th, we’re heading to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam ⭐️ for a month-long songwriting camp. This is something we’ve been planning for over a year, and we can’t wait to bring you along.

We’ll be dropping a new trailer every Monday leading up to the trip. 🎬
