Rudyard Schmidt has built a house on bamboo stilts in the Neue Nationalgalerie’s exhibition hall. This temporary construction technique stands in direct dialogue with the museum’s steel roof structure, which, in 1967, was raised by hydraulic presses and then lowered onto eight columns. In Flipping Fishes Tumbling Cause They Shiver, this structure is juxtaposed with the traditional bamboo architecture of the Philippines, and we are invited to think about the changing realities of life, adaptation to climate conditions, and our awareness of rising sea levels. The piece is an homage to the artist’s family in the archipelago, Philippine art, the necessity of improvisation in the use of materials and resources, the practice of shaping temporary spaces for social life, and the everyday collective use of such spaces. @neuenationalgalerie @mentarrudy @klassebaranowsky @adbk_nuernberg @studioolafureliasson @klausbiesenbach #festivaloffuturenows by @baranopara

BIM BAM BOM TV
Performativer Event im Rahmen der 38ten Tage der zeitgenössischen Kunst Białystok, Polen

25.05.2024 (Samstag), 16:00
Młodzieżowy Dom Kultury, Warszawska 79A, Białystok
Eintritt frei

Künstler*innen: Antonia Weber, Ari Pilhofer, Emmi Heckel, Elena Bastert, Hannah Christa, Hannah Suda, Jacob Al-Maboren, Lukas Jantschek, Lukas Ulrich, Maximilian Reubel, Mhamed Al-Zubadi, Miriam Arz, Simon Pröbstl, Talaj Szöke

Kuratoren*innen: Tomek Pawłowski-Jarmołajew, Maja "May" Smoszna

this is where we'll have our performance event on the 25th May as part of the 38th days of Contemporary Art Festival.
First preparations, guided tours and visiting and learning about the Białowieża-Nationalpark. It is the last primeval forest in Europe. But it is also the border between Belarus and Poland. The EU outer border where Frontex is stationed and pushbacks are still happening. Some refugees spend month in this forest trying to repeatedly cross the border. In the national park we got to meet a local group of activists and took part in a workshop with Kasia Hertz.

Jo there

We (Klasse Baranowsky) are currently in Poland, guided by the wonderful @jarmolaev and @majasmoszna ♡
During this trip we get to know a bit of art and culture in Poland (Warsaw and Białystok) as well as the regional heritage and specificity of Podlasie.
Starting from the center, the capital of Poland - Warsaw, we move towards the east, the EU border and deep into the forest.
