“Kid, you can move mountains.” “Behind Levin’s desk hangs a message she’s carried since childhood — one I could clearly see throughout our Zoom conversation. It reads: “Kid, you can move mountains.” She first saw that phrase as a teenager, typed it out on her parents’ computer, and taped it above her bedroom door as a personal mantra. Years later, it remains in her office, not as a motivational slogan, but as a custom-made piece of art... For Levin, it’s a reminder of what leadership actually demands: unlimited self-belief and the willingness to step into discomfort long before clarity arrives. Startups don’t scale on vision alone. They scale when founders stop carrying everything themselves — and build teams that can move mountains together.” What an honor to have you share my story in @forbes @forbeswomen. HARVARD 📍 The campus tour begins!!! I started my career in education, taught at the university level, and being back in front of students this week felt like home. If we are going to impact the future of leadership and entrepreneurship, one thing remains true — we have to understand the impact of leadership & identity before the build begins. Honored to have spoken to the next generation of entrepreneurs this week @harvardundergradwe . What an incredible group of young women with big visions. taken in Cambridge, Massachusetts by @barbaraalevin

The most valuable lessons in brand building come from those pioneering what’s next and doing the work firsthand. That was the idea behind our Building a Public-Facing Brand founders’ dinner. One table bringing together founders from completely different industries, backgrounds, and stages of business. But the evening was about more than bringing founders together. The conversation will also help inform a first-of-its-kind research report being developed by @barbaraalevin and @thealtora, exploring what it means to lead a highly visible brand today, from building trust and navigating public scrutiny to the evolving relationship between founder and brand. Co-hosted by Barbara of @thealtora and @alison.belilty of @weareyearround, the evening created space for honest conversations, shared experiences, and meaningful connections. A special thank you to @flexsuperapp and @kelly__cherry for powering the evening and helping bring it all to life. The next era of beauty is being built by a remarkable class of founders. It’s an honor to play a small part in their journey as a leadership advisor to the Ulta Beauty Brand Accelerator. A huge thank you to the incredible team at @ultabeauty . They play the long game, investing not only in the brands they believe in, but in the people behind them early. Startups grow when founders do. Developing the brand and developing the leader behind it must happen in tandem if we want to build for long-term growth. A new class of beauty brands is setting the pace for what comes next, and I’m grateful to have a front-row seat. Media & photography: @jackiesterna by @barbaraalevin
