This is our shop’s version of “Fordite” - an agate-esque material built from layers and layers of paint. Named from the Ford car factory - all of the layers of real Fordite are the many different vibrant colors of car paint (especially back in the 60s and 70s when cars were painted more interesting colors).

As you can see from our version, we paint a lot of whites, off-whites, grays, blacks, and clears - not so interesting. But if you look closely at these two photos there are two colors that pop out - a purple patch and a pink line. I can’t tell you what all the other colors are, or who they’re for, but I know exactly what those two standout colors are named: Benjamin Moore “Mystical Grape” and “Hibiscus” - both in high gloss - and they were both for jobs that we had the honor to create for @dollyparton .

I can’t show the work here, but it’s some of the cooler work that we’ve done in our twenty year history, and in unforgettable colors. It’s hard to imagine a world without Dolly Parton - I remarked yesterday that our world needs MORE Dolly, not less. But I’m grateful that in some small way our world got to intersect with her brilliance, and thought it would be worthwhile to share here. Rest in Peace to Dolly, and may we all take on more of her fabulous qualities, and put out more love into the world, to attempt to offset this great loss. taken in Nashville, Tennessee by @barberwoodworking
