Romania has been at the top of my travel list for years, so when @kelseyytravels told me she’d be visiting, I didn’t think twice. We had seven years of catching up to do, and we did it the best way possible: eating our way through Bucharest, cheering on our favorite rugby player, dancing the night away, and so much more. Most common phrase of my weekend getaway in Mallorca - ā€œHow is this my real life?ā€ A quick 30 minute flight from Barcelona took me to one of the world’s most beautiful islands and these are just a few of the moments that capture the happiness I felt. From renting a boat for 8 hours, swimming in private calas across the island, and staying up in bed yapping with my favorite Dutch girls, this has become one of the most unforgettable trips I’ve taken. I am eternally grateful to have the opportunity to live this incredible life that the small town girl from Texas could only dream of šŸ«¶šŸ» by @barcelonabynumbers

Holy shit - i can’t believe it’s been 1 year since I packed all my things and moved to Barcelona! A year of challenges, growth, and so much fucking fun. When I stepped out of that plane 365 days ago, I never would have imagined this is how my life would be. Of course there was fear, anxiety, and discomfort those first few weeks. But as soon as I started figuring things out, the universe started working in my favor and has given me a life that I always dreamed of. And that’s all thanks to these incredible people I have met along the way. Making friends as an adult is hard, add the fact that I am on a complete different continent and it’s a whole new ball game. Not only are these people my friends, but they’re my family and I couldn’t have gotten through this year without them. So if you needed a sign to take a risk and move to a new city, or just change everything you know in your life - here it is. And I can assure you - it’s fucking worth it. šŸ¤ taken in Barcelona, Spain by @barcelonabynumbers

I can’t believe that in my first year living in Spain, I got to see over 20 (!!) of my closest friends and family šŸ¤ I’m beyond lucky to have so many amazing people take time out of their lives to visit me—whether for a full adventure or even just a quick lunch. From mastering my tour to exploring Barcelona (and beyond), this year reminded me just how special my relationships are. Seeing the city I now call home through their eyes was truly the icing on the cake. These are just a few of the special people I got to see!

One of the things I’m the most grateful for with my life in Barcelona, is getting to meet people from all over the world. Sweden is home to the most incredible group of young women I had the privilege of going to school with for 4 months, so when the opportunity presented itself to be the tourist, I couldn’t say no! We spent 48 hours together exploring Stockholm, eating Swedish meatballs, clubbing until 3 AM and reminiscing on how crazy it was that a little Spanish school led us all together. I am so blessed to have meet these ladies and for them taking the time out to show this Texan around their home. A few months ago, my roommates, a new friend and I took off on a hiking adventure! We booked a bed & breakfast and rented a car 2 days before we left, which knowing me, isn’t that shocking these days. We headed 3 hours west to the Congost de Mont-rebei, a natural gorge carved by the Noguera Ribagorçana river, with vertical walls reaching up to 500 meters tall. I’m not a big hiker, so this trek kicked my ass, but it was one of the best experiences I’ve had so far in Spain. But my favorite part of the trip was getting to spend time with Sara, Manuel, and Estefany. I am so blessed to live with such incredible, thoughtful, generous people like Sara and Manuel. They have welcomed me in, a little immigrant from Texas, and continue to help me navigate my new life here with no judgement and all love. One of my favorite people I have met through them is Estefany, Manuel’s cousin. She has been there for me more than she realizes, and even though we don’t speak the other’s language perfectly, we are always laughing when we are together. I can’t wait to go on another adventure with my Spanish family, but preferably not a hike in the summer šŸ™ƒ taken in Congost De Mont-Rebei by @barcelonabynumbers

SAPPY POST INCOMING šŸ’Œ

ā€œI get it.ā€ 3 words that may not mean a lot to most people, but when my mom said this to me while she was visiting Spain, it meant everything.

Being away from family has been one of the hardest parts of this journey, especially being away from my mom. If I can live my life with even half the love and resilience she carries, I’ll consider that a win. She is the most compassionate, supportive, and incredible woman in my life and I am so lucky to have her not only as my mom, but my friend.

Getting to explore this city with her, to show her the life I’m building and the reasons I fell in love with this place—it was a moment I’ll never forget. To have her not just see it, but get it? That meant the world.

So to my mama, thank you. For always being there—for the honest fashion critiques, the unwavering encouragement, and the way you love me from oceans away. I LOVE YOU!

I can’t wait to host you again soon—this time with Dad in tow! šŸ¤ taken in Europe by @barcelonabynumbers

I’m not sure Europe was ready for the Rohde Mafia, but we stormed Barcelona anyway. Getting to play tour guide for my family was an absolute blast, and easily one of my favorite memories since moving here. The fact that Grandma Rose made the transatlantic trek? Legend. We laughed until we cried, cried until we laughed again, and managed to be way too loud in just about every public space we entered. But hey, we brought chaos and the love—Barcelona didn’t stand a chance 🄰 taken in Barcelona, Spain by @barcelonabynumbers

I still can’t believe I had not one, but TWO of my closest friends fly from Texas to Barcelona to celebrate my 30th. We explored Tenerife, Seville, and Madrid, where we laughed until we cried, had the kind of deep conversations that stay with you for days after, and made memories I’ll never forget. Having them here reminded me why moving to Spain was the right choice, and knowing they support me from across the world (and already want to come back) means more than I can put into words. This is just a post to tell them I love them so much—more than they probably even realize and I’m so grateful for the past few weeks with them šŸ’™ taken in Spain by @barcelonabynumbers
