Seeing the Sagrada Família through its reflection feels like discovering it for the first time. While thousands of people stop here every day to admire the basilica, the view reflected in the water offers a completely different perspective. The details, colors and architecture seem to take on a new life.

Designed by Antoni Gaudí, this iconic landmark continues to surprise visitors no matter how many times they see it. Sometimes the most beautiful photo isn’t the one taken directly in front of the monument, but the one captured from a different angle.

Hidden in the heart of Barcelona is a shop that has been open since 1898.

Antiga Passamaneria J. Soler has been selling ribbons, tassels, trims and traditional sewing accessories for more than 125 years. Walking inside feels like stepping back in time, with wooden shelves, vintage drawers and thousands of handcrafted details that have inspired generations of artisans, designers and costume makers.

In a city full of famous landmarks, places like this remind us that Barcelona’s true history is often hidden behind small shop windows.

The colorful columns decorating the balcony of the Palau de la Música Catalana are covered with intricate floral mosaics. These vibrant designs celebrate nature, a key inspiration of Catalan Modernism, and have become one of the most photographed details of Barcelona’s iconic Palace of Music.

You’re looking at 200 years of Barcelona’s history.

Herboristeria del Rei (The King’s Herbal Shop) opened its doors in 1818. In 1857, it became the herbalist and supplier to Queen Isabel II and the Royal Household.

But in 2021, after more than two centuries, the shop closed its doors. It seemed like the end of an old Barcelona story.

Then, in 2023, the doors opened again.

The historic shelves, decorations and Carrara marble fountain were preserved, bringing the old magic back to life.

Today, it is once again a working herbal shop.

One of the most beautiful spots to enjoy a coffee or a meal in Barcelona is La Greca, tucked away in the gardens of Montjuïc. With its charming surroundings and views over the city, it’s a lovely place to slow down and enjoy a different side of Barcelona. Whether you stop by for a coffee or stay for a meal, the setting alone makes it worth visiting.

You’re looking at 200 years of Barcelona’s history.

Herboristeria del Rei (The King’s Herbal Shop) was founded in 1818, making it one of the oldest herbal shops in Catalonia.

In 1857, its founder, Josep Vilà, became herbalist to Queen Isabel II and supplier to the Royal Household.

But in September 2021, after more than 200 years of history, the shop closed its doors. For a while, it looked like another historic Barcelona business had disappeared.

But the story didn’t end there.

On 21 July 2023, the shop reopened with a new owner, while preserving its historic interior, including its old wooden shelves, painted decorations and the famous Carrara marble fountain.

Today, Herboristeria del Rei is once again a working herbal shop, selling medicinal plants, teas, natural products, organic food and cosmetics. @herboristeria_del_rey

Unlike many concert halls, the Palau de la Música Catalana was built with an abundance of glass, allowing natural light to illuminate the interior during the day. This innovative design makes Barcelona’s Palace of Music one of the few concert venues in the world that can be enjoyed without relying entirely on artificial lighting.

I’ve been going to Gràcia for years and I always stop by Pastisseria Montserrat. Today I wanted to show it to you too.

This traditional pastry shop dates back to 1870. It started as a bakery, and in 1942 Bonaventura Torremadé Roig took over the business and turned it into a pastry shop.

One of their specialties is Bescuit de la Reina, a light sponge cake with a creamy filling. Another classic is Braç de Gitano, a rolled sponge cake filled with cream, custard or truffle.

They’ve been making these traditional pastries since around 1947, so when you try them, you’re really tasting a little piece of Gràcia’s pastry-making history.

I tried both today, and honestly, I can see why they’ve been making them for so many years.

Can Cortada is one of those places that makes you forget you’re still in Barcelona.

This historic farmhouse in Horta has Roman and medieval roots and was once surrounded by fields, long before Horta became part of the city we know today.

I love discovering places like this because they remind me that Barcelona still keeps little pieces of its past hidden in plain sight.

Today it’s a restaurant, but for me, it feels like a small window into another Barcelona.

And yes
your admin is here in the video again.

Banksy – Goldfish Bowl
This artwork plays with the idea of reality and illusion. The goldfish appears to swim out of the ocean painting and into the real glass bowl, creating the illusion that the two worlds are connected.

It is a typical Banksy approach: taking an ordinary object and placing it in an unexpected context to make us question what is real and what is art.

The gargoyles you can see in the courtyard of the Palau de la Generalitat in Plaça Sant Jaume are not just decorative elements.

These stone figures were designed to drain rainwater from the building, but many of them also have human and fantastical forms. They reflect the imagination, clothing and artistic style of the period in which they were created.

Some of the figures are quite unusual and even a little grotesque, which is typical of Gothic architecture.
