One of the joys of working in the 🎪 community is having the opportunity to go watch other Circus Performances, often where some of our @ringling performers have come from or have friends in the performances. We got the privilege of seeing the last performance in Houston by @universoulcircus and it was spectacular! My phone died so didn't get as many photos as I would like but enjoyed the production immensely!

Now time to get back to our 🎪 and The Greatest Show on Earth.

One of the things I love about working for @ringling is finding gems marking the Ringling Brothers Circus Legacy in the venues we now play in and Ringling has played in for decades. Sometimes big and showy, sometimes just a small hint in the sidewalk.

So today was a day off from the 🎪, and since we are in Anaheim I decided to have a nostalgia day in Huntington Beach....a place where I worked for a decade one of my favorite events, Vans US Open of Surfing, BMX & Skateboarding. It's about this time of the year I would make my way to HB for 2 weeks of non-stop action sports mayhem in the heat and sunshine of Southern California. 💜'd working Vans events, but this was my favorite.

On the beach today I saw the construction of the venues for the event, now the Lexus US Open of Surfing....doesn't feel the same without Vans as the Corporate Sponsor of this event.

Nonetheless, I enjoyed a day at the beach, taking photos at the iconic Huntington Beach Pier followed by a late lunch at one of the iconic restaurants where our medical staff always ate. In fact we always went to Fred's Mexican Cafe to celebrate the birthdays of @ibonemvr and @dr.terryw during the event each year, 2 guys that have been with Bare Essentials Sports Medicine since the very beginning.

Great memories today...I definitely miss the event and my friend Ira, who along with Terry worked side by side with me and many student athletic trainers...and of course can't forget Athletic Trainers Stephanie & Tori who made the event even more memorable.

That's what I love about the history of Bare Essentials Sports Medicine, we have made some amazing memories with some incredible people, and today brought a lot of those phenomenal memories rushing back just by visiting a beach, Huntington Beach.

Bare Essentials Sports Medicine is providing medical coverage for the 2026 AAU Combat Sports Nationals in Ft Lauderdale, FL, and about to wrap up a week of AAU Wrestling & JuJitsu. This week we are just getting started with AAU Karate & AAU Taekwondo. We have been covering AAU Taekwondo Nationals for the past 2 decades and we're excited to also add Karate & Wrestling this year.

This is our team of Athletic Trainers, Paramedics and MSAT Students who have already been busy helping athletes chase their dreams. We love including students who will become the next generation of clinicians continuing the work we began 4 decades ago. In fact the BESM Team Lead for both Wrestling and Karate @srhguerrero got his start as a student athletic trainer working USA Taekwondo events with BESM and now he heads up the California Division of USA Wrestling and all BESM covered Taekwondo/Martial Art events in California. We love how he is now inspiring a new generation of clinicians to work with martial arts events.

If you are at the AAU Combat Sports Nationals stop by and say Hello!
