NON-DANISH PREMIERE

PSYCHOPOMPOS, written and directed by Lasse Malmberg, is a darkly humorous and deeply moving drama that explores life by confronting what comes after it.

When burned-out office worker Michael is unexpectedly promoted to guiding the newly deceased into the afterlife, he finds himself trapped in a bureaucratic system where compassion is discouraged and every soul must accept that their time has run out. As doubt begins to replace duty, Michael is forced to question not only the rules of the system—but his own place within it.

Selected for the EKKO Shortlist, PSYCHOPOMPOS is a poignant reflection on loss, acceptance, and the courage to let go.

So today marked the 1 year anniversary of when filming started on my final project @europeanfilmcollege.

I am deep in preproduction on my next film, but wanted to take a moment to acknowledge this movie that I still hold in a very special place and have not given any attention here.

Three years ago I decided to pursue my dream of making movies. I spent over a year saving up, working long hours and didn’t have weekend off for 50 weeks in a row. When I had enough money saved, I quit my job and moved with all I had to Ebeltoft for nine months.

This movie was the final result of those 9 months and it was worth all of it.

I can’t remember a time in my life where I felt this much in such a short span of time. I learned a lot. Like, A LOT! I smiled a lot. I cried a bit. Smiled some more, and finally breathed a deep sigh of relief when it was finished.

It was also the first time I felt something was truly mine, but could only be realised by having a great team to back me up. Something I could be proud of.
I still am.

A slow movie about faith, loss, grief and, perhaps most importantly, hope. Written and directed me.
Who would’ve thought?

Bad Boys II is still a banger though…

A huge thank you to all the cast and crew, you made hard work and long hours something to miss! I truly had the time of my life!
