Paul John single malt, The Original Three. All Paul John malt whiskies begin with one of these 3 spirits, first released as (wonderful) mature single malt whiskies.
Each is distilled from 100% Indian six-row barley grown and malted in India.
Malt for PJ Bold is dried over smouldering peat. For Brilliance, they dry the malt without peat. Edited is a blend of peated and unpeated whiskies, ie, Bold & Brilliance. Cask selection, finishing, ageing, abvs and proportions create all the multiple bottlings. Know these 3 and you’re half way to understanding the glories of Paul John.

Bold 46%
Lovely, tempered peat smoke. Charcoal and vague bacon, with campfire ashes fading into aromas of a hay loft and dry grain. Breakfast cereal and hints of malt. Hot and spicy with both sweetness and a sourish tinge. Clean firewood and hints of pine pitch. Crisp red apples and soft milk chocolate. Oh, that gorgeous smokiness.

Brilliance 46%
Delicate tones of floral tropical fruits, ripe orchard fruits, sweet malt and caramel. Hints of grain and dry grass. Clean barrel wood and soft tannins. Butterscotch and maybe vanilla, with a touch of chocolate and warming spices. Elegant and flavourful.

Edited 46%
A thrilling celebratory dance with rich cereal notes leading as peat smoke keeps step. Malted barley with echos of hot piri-piri sauce. The peppery-hot and spicy palate balances a sweet fruitiness and creamy rich mouth feel. Hints of oak tannins in the finish add tropical complexity and hint of maturity.

Nirvana, chill filtered but filtered out? [LINK IN BIO]

🥃 Paul John’s Nirvana is their entry single malt, and the only one chill filtered.

An Indian single malt that’s light, fruity, and floral — an easy sipper at an easy price. Perfect for newcomers or anyone wanting a casual dram without too much weight.

If you like approachable whiskies (Glenmorangie Original, Auchentoshan American Oak), this one’s worth checking out.

A good time was had by all yesterday, including us as we had the pleasure of pouring the award winning @pauljohnwhisky Peated single malt at @winewhiskyracing @thewhiskysmoke with the backdrop of @hastingsraces racecourse.

Whisky, wine, cigars and horse racing. A fun evening. Thanks to @wearefeaster and everyone who stopped by our booth to try the @pauljohnwhisky and say hi. Until the next time. Cheers!
