@wagcitostudios took the best pictures of my baby to celebrate him being CANCER FREE! ❤️

For anyone who doesn’t know, my baby, Jacks, was diagnosed with stage 3a B-cell Lymphoma in April, only a few months after turning 10.

That diagnosis started our 6 month chemo journey, with weekly trips to Connecticut for CHOP therapy with @vetcancerconcierge.

If you’re in this terrible club, you know how financially, physically, and emotionally demanding a cancer diagnosis and treatment is. Cancer is terrible. The treatment doesn’t feel much better. And overnight, years of stability you’ve built for yourself is gone as you’re faced with the choice of losing your best friend, or figuring it out. You become a nurse, a pharmacist, a nutritionist, and a burnt out caretaker all at once.

I lost my routines, home, in moments my mind, and honestly, a lot of people I thought would be there forever.

That’s the reason this business exists. I honestly think it’s what kept us going through it all. In those hard moments, I had something to look forward to. And the best part is that Jacks got to be a part of it all.

Bark and Bead was started to help me pay for chemo while also allowing me to spend more time with Jacks…but we found so much more than financial support in this community of LI dog parents 🥹🥹 so much love and support, and never once met with “it’s just a dog” energy.

If you’ve bought a collar, hosted us at a pop up, or just let us say hello to your dog, thank you.

Reminder that when you support a small business, its not just a purchase. You’re breathing life into someone’s dream, and sometimes you’re literally helping them survive.

It truly means more than you could ever know. ❤️
