Barkley now. DJ PRIDE back then. The same love for the music 🎧 🎢β™₯️ A little of my story, from getting started in 1989 to getting back out there today. I’m loving the conversations, the connections and the chance to contribute again. It’s great to be back. by @barkleydjpride

HOUSE 1989–90 VOLUME 01 Follow the links in my bio to YouTube Mixcloud SoundCloud Back to where it all started. A vinyl mix celebrating the sound of the late ’80s and early ’90s when Chicago house, acid house and the emerging UK house scene were changing club music forever. These are the records I was buying and playing when I first started DJing, mixed the way they were meant to be heard on vinyl! HOUSE 1989–90 is the first chapter in the BARKLEY! mix series, revisiting the music I played between 1988 and 1993 from classic house and piano house through to the harder warehouse, rave and the drum & base sounds that followed. No sync. No digital mixing. Just two Technics, vinyl and a mixer. 🎧 BARKLEY! Formerly DJ Pride I played alongside some of the scenes legends back in the day, at venues all around London. Now I’m back behind the decks playing some nostalgic old school tunes. More BARKLEY! mixes coming soon. Follow @DJBarkley on YouTube for the next volume. #oldschoolvibes #OldSchoolHouse #ClassicHouse #HouseMusic 1989House 1990House OldSchoolVinyl Technics1200 by @barkleydjpride
HOUSE 1990–91 | VOLUME 02 I played alongside some of the scene’s legends back in the day, at venues all around London. Now I’m back behind the decks playing some nostalgic old school tunes Close your eyes for a moment and imagine yourself there. Not a smartphone in sight, no filming, no scrolling and no one watching the night through a screen. Just a room full of people moving together, all there for one thing: the music. The mix opens with Techno Trance Yaaa, as the mix grows deeper, G.T.O., LFO and Landlord draw you further underground with raw, hypnotic rhythms and heavy, rolling basslines. Then Bizarre Inc. and Outrage begin to lift the mix back towards the surface. The darkness gradually gives way to melody, piano and familiar vocals as Rhythm on the Loose carries the room towards daybreak, setting the stage for Shades of Rhythm and the final euphoric, hands-in-the-air sunrise moment. As the closing breakdown of Rhythm on the Loose’s Break of Dawn arrives, the β€œsuitcase at the door” vocal disappears. From somewhere in the smoke, the vocal opening of Shades of Rhythm’s The Sound of Eden begins to emerge. The two records cross before The Sound of Eden takes over completely, delivering that final euphoric, hands-in-the-air sunrise moment. No sync. No digital mixing. Just two Technics, vinyl and a mixer. 🎧 BARKLEY! Formerly DJ Pride More BARKLEY! mixes coming soon. Follow on YouTube Mixcloud SoundCloud for the next volume: link in bio. TRACKLIST 01.
