@ollie_raps and @_lucyliao_ made this really pretty song back when we were in China. One morning we ran down to the beach as the sun was coming up and shot a few visuals for it that I like a lot by @barnabre

New from Trust: Something to Miss
Written & Directed by Brendan Barnard

An intimate and reflective exploration of the quiet tragedy of unspoken emotions in a relationship.

Drifting between a present-day phone conversation and fragments of a relationship they once shared, two former partners reconnect after time apart. As memories resurface, the film reflects on love, loss, and the quiet sadness of realizing how much of yourself you left unseen.

“I think I’m really drawn to work that feels intimate and real. Stories about relationships between people, and relationships with yourself.” —Brendan Barnard

Every time I saw Warren he always had a story to tell me about an interaction he had with a “customer” while picking up their recycling. He showed me cards that they would write, thanking him for everything he was doing - I could tell he was so proud. I asked if I could spend a couple days going to work with him to just document his day-to-day work. There was no concrete plan of what the documentary was going to be about other than him picking up the trash.
It was freezing cold and you could barely see where you were driving with the amount of snow falling, but he had a smile on his face the entire day. I watched as he took time to play with all the dogs that ran up to see him when they saw his truck pulling up, or have a conversation with anyone who was outside on a walk or just waiting by their garbage to see him and say good morning. You could see how happy these interactions made him and it felt really special. The idea of Warren finding this fulfillment through these relationships he was making while picking up trash presented itself while filming. Warren, you are the most kind-hearted, genuine, and caring person and it was a pleasure to ride along with you and try to capture just a sliver of who you are. Thank you for being so open with me while we made this. Your positivity is admirable and I appreciate you being part of my life, love you!

Also, @ryancowan thanks for always being there to look at every version this doc went through. I showed way too many of them to you but you took the time to give each one a watch and your thoughts, even when you didnt notice anything change.
@borninmay.wav the music turned out amazing and it was such a fun experience working with you on this. I’m very thankful for you hopping on and putting so much time and effort in. You’re so talented and I can’t wait to see what you do next.
@Kevinwu your magic touch brought this beautiful grit to the visuals that paired with this project so perfectly. Thank you.
@s.quinnhoodless the sound design and mix really brought this whole thing to life. Thanks so much for all your help.
