My father was a luthier in his spare time—a craftsman of both sound and soul. He could bring anything with strings to life, and when he wasn’t shaping wood into music, he was creating beauty in other forms. I still remember the stained glass lamp he once made, glowing softly in our home when I was a child. I adored it—it felt like a little piece of his spirit shining in color.
To honor his legacy, and that deep, unshakable need he had to create, I decided to get a new tattoo. It’s inspired by an inlay he once made: a maiden carved in mother of pearl. Beside her, a cardinal—a symbol of hope and the quiet visits of those we’ve loved and lost—rests on a dogwood branch, the state tree and flower of Virginia, where we both called home. All this in the style of stained glass. I want to give a massive thank you to the incredible work done by my good friend @lars.tattoo of @33_tattoo_studio and @rafal28g for coaching me through it 😆🤘🏼

This tattoo means more to me than anything. dziękuję wam bardzo chłopaki 🤙🏼

Miss you everyday Dad❤️

It means more to us small creators than you’ll know 🙏🏼 by @barnes_built

The simple jig used for these #knifescales worked flawlessly! It really can be tricky to get multiple pieces to stay still while the clock is ticking on the epoxy. The colors are a bit muted right now but that’ll change once the sanding starts. by @barnes_built
