Martial arts has taken me to places I didn’t think possible in this life. Yet I’m barely scratching the surface.

The journey all began when i decided to simply begin.

Then it continued by showing up the next day, and beginning again.

Constant beginnings every day, trying to learn something new, apply a new technique, rediscover old techniques. It’s a constant process that doesn’t stop unfolding.

Maybe that’s why I love martial arts so much, because the ceilings that exist are self imposed, and the only way you won’t be able to break through them is because you get in your own way.

That doesn’t mean every day will be a victory or a feather in your cap.

It means even when you lose, get injured or expected a better outcome that never arrives. You are required to dust yourself off, get your bearings straight, and refuse to hold onto whatever it is that no longer serves you.

This could be techniques, coaches, teammates, mindsets, etc. being humble enough to let go will save you countless hours or days of regret and heartache.

That does not mean you just need to abandon everyone and everything around you just because you lose a fight or blow out your knee throwing a kick in practice.

You learn from this craft that a healthy dose of self reflection goes a very long way.

Don’t be afraid to start.

Don’t be afraid to readjust.

Don’t be afraid to question yourself.

Just make sure you have an answer as to why you’re doing this. For me, it’s because I love this shit. by @barnyardbernard

2 years to the day since this crazy ass fight
Hell of a scrap and if you scroll my page I still post about it till this day.
Learned so much about the fight game from this specific bout.
The lead up to it and how humbling the cut to 135 was for this fight (I didn’t make weight 😅)
But you need these wars, and lessons to gather true wisdom.
Pushing through adversity and charging towards the end goal is something you must learn very quickly in fighting.
Love yall for the support and for joining me on my journey. Keep tuning in by @barnyardbernard
