My message to anyone that struggles with fear of failure: I know how much easier it is to fly under the radar and keep your goals and achievements (as well as any failures to reach those goals) to yourself. I know it can help you avoid a lot of embarrassment and judgement. I know because I remember. If you want to be extraordinary, it’s nearly impossible to avoid having to put yourself out there in a public way. When I started my first business in 2017, we were bootstrapped. I went door-to-door with a flyer and a basket of strawberry candies to promote our digital marketing agency... 😂 I picked up the phone and got hung up on at least 20 times for every 1 person who took me seriously. I spent hours on the road with my business partner at the time to pitch to prospects, and then working on fulfilment in the evenings. I invested time and money into making educational content to post on social media, so that I could build my personal brand and authority. As we grew, the challenges got harder, not easier. But I also became more capable. As an individual striving for excellence; as a business owner striving for differentiation; as a leader striving for the growth of myself and my people. The reality is, most businesses fail in the first year, so the odds are stacked against you. And sadly, some people actually want to see you fail. It makes them feel better about the fact that they’re settling for mediocrity. But ignore the naysayers. There are also people out there who want to see you win just as much as they want to win themselves. Everyone fails sometimes - that’s a fact. And each failure is a step toward becoming the person we're each meant to be. So, embrace the fear, take the risk, and keep moving forward. Never in my life did I ever think that I'd actually go skydiving. 🪂⛅😶‍🌫️😮😵 But I had a fear of heights growing up and began conquering it - starting from the swings in elementary school (yeah that shit gave me butterflies I almost couldn't handle) to the rollercoasters at Wonderland, and taking it even further by sitting at the edge of some of the tallest buildings in Toronto and looking down at the city below... But jumping out of a moving plane 10,500 ft. in the air? Lol. 🛩️🙅🏻‍♂️ Now that I did it, I'd do it again. And I highly recommend it, ESPECIALLY if the idea gives you the heebity jeebities! The feeling afterwards is almost as phenomenal as the astonishing bliss of the freefall itself. 😱🤩 It felt like flying, to be able to intuitively reposition your body in a way that allows you to maneauver in the air... and then dangling with absolutely nothing below you for thousands of feet... looking at the incredibly beautiful panoramic views... what an unforgettable rush.
