Word can’t express how much this style and piece mean to me. My journey as an artist has completely been growth and overcoming some seemingly impossible obstacles. The line work has always kept me on a straight path ironically so. Here I am almost 10years in the game as a full time artist and 14 years in painting all together. “Taste”Creation is powerful. “Sight”This piece honors indigenous women around the world through my reimagining of body paint, line work, and symbolic expression. The red, black, and white patterns represent strength, ancestry, protection, and spirit. I wanted the body to become more than a figure: I wanted this piece to become a living canvas carrying history, resilience, and power.The hands covering the face connect to the idea of “see no evil,” but in this work it represents discernment and protection. A refusal to absorb the negativity, violence, and limitations often placed onto women. Even with the face hidden, the presence becomes stronger.This work is about honoring identity, sacred strength, and the spirit of women who continue to carry culture, wisdom, and survival across generations. “In hiding the face, the spirit becomes impossible to ignore.” by @barrett.keithley

“Indigenous Mother”In my practice photography plays its crucial role. I wanted this photo to capture something ancestral. I’ve been diving deeply into my own indigenous heritage and discovering my ancestral mothers. Linework is one of the first forms of art and writing for the human race. This form of communicating was simple yet very effective in delivering life’s complexities. In this piece, I am using my line work to communicate in my own interpretation the origins of our indigenous mothers. Choosing to use red, white, and black as my color pallet to represent the bloodline(red), the vast and deep lineage of our ancestors past (black), and the innocence and purity our mothers (white).It was important that my muse for this project is a mother. So that the subject could connect event deeper to the history of motherhood. Her eyes holds the ancestral story with her longing gaze. The seriousness yet subtleness of her expression shows the clam-while the abstract on her face shows the chaos of what it takes to birth generations.Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers! “Patience”The world around her is chaos, busy, always moving. She closes her eyes to bring within herself stillness. Patience is her inner peace. The world around her may be disruptive, but her inner being is calm. She gives herself grace in the midst of all the noise-even if it is only for a moment.That moment is hers. by @barrett.keithley

“PEACE”There’s so many instances in our life that pull us; and if we let them they’ll pull us apart. But we aren’t allowed to break. No, we are not machines-so how do we find strength to keep going? Where does the endurance come from? For me I had to realize that my peace lies with in me. I am Peace. That’s an affirmation I tell myself to help push through the challenges of my world. I also remind myself that my internal reality creates my external reality. Peace offers so much, like the ability to still yourself even when there’s chaos. When I am tapped into my peace I feel I am tapped into the supreme consciousness. I feel that God Energy overflowing within me and I become stoic. I meditate, write in my journals, paint, draw, dance, freestyle and more to feel that inner peace. Tell me how do you obtain your inner peace? by @barrett.keithley

EnterGalaticWithin us all poses everything we have ever needed to be great. Great, our better selves? Our better selves, we already are.But, how often are you looking within? Can you, go deeper within? Better yet, will you?Things I ask myself when I feel overwhelmed. Diving into vices are of course pleasurable, but they treat the symptoms and don’t heal the Dis Ease. How often would you choose to heal yourself if all you needed to do was go within? I’m reminding myself and you all that we are infinite! I’m sharing my affirmations below:I AM POWER. I AM GREAT.I AM JOY.I AM STRENGTH.I AM.I use these and more to feed myself within. To heal my thoughts; ease my heart; and calm my nervous system.Let us not forget: Our inner reality creates our outter reality. by @barrett.keithley
