Our team, Heavy Science Traverse, have successfully made it to the South Pole Amundsen-Scott Station. After 1100 miles of traversing the continent from Mcmurdo Station the 5 of us made it just in time for Christmas. It took us 25 days (November 29-December 24) of variable snow and a multitude of challenges along the way. Despite all the odds of leaving late, having to turn around and minor mechanical delays our team rallied together working many 14-16 hour days. We made over 180 miles in the last 3 days. We transfered fuel, cargo and tractors to distrubt weight evenly. Our team worked together so seamlessly, from the months of cold preparation to being rushed out onto the trail, it felt like a band of brothers.

We arrived as the station was hosting Christmas dinner, we were mustered into the galley after driving for 12+ hours, we turned the corner to be greater over the loud speaker and the entire station erupted into cheers and whistles, offering us hugs and laughter, food and drinks, the warmest entrance we could have ever expected. From 4 faces for a month to over one hundred, it was shocking. A moment I will never forget. We stuffed our faces with lamb and duck, fresh vegetables and fruit, and ate truffles until my stomach hurt, turns out it was a good call that we made it to this event.

We are staging supplies for next year where we will travel another 400 miles outside of the south pole in search of the world's oldest ice. You can look more information up at Coldex.org. By traveling overland, we can reduce this massive carbon footprint and reduce cost compared to the only other way we know, by air.

Thank you to all who have checked in on the progress, wished me a happy birthday, and happy holidays. You all mean so much. taken in South Pole by @barrett_ferguson

The days are counting down until I return to the flat white.

Alongside an incredible crew of colleagues, I'll begin what will be my biggest Antarctic traverse yet. Our route will take us deep into West Antarctica, crossing vast stretches of untouched snow before rendezvousing with two other traverse teams. From there, we'll make the long journey home as a single convoy—a moving outpost of people, machines, and science in one of the most remote places on Earth.

There is still so much unknown about the journey ahead, and that's exactly what makes it worth pursuing. Antarctica has a way of humbling you. Success isn't about any one person—it's about preparation, trust, and a crew willing to perform at its best when conditions demand it. I'm grateful to work beside so many talented individuals whose knowledge and experience make these expeditions possible.

Antarctica is indifferent to our presence. The landscape doesn't care that we're there, and the weather owes us nothing. Whiteouts can erase the horizon in minutes, temperatures can plunge without warning, and every decision carries weight. Yet it's that very environment that strips life down to its essentials. Out there, surrounded by endless white, there's room for introspection, curiosity, and perspective that is difficult to find anywhere else. Some places test what you know. Antarctica tests who you are.

The days often feel slow, but somehow the weeks disappear in an instant.

This is just a small piece of our New Zealand journey.

While hunkering down through a cyclone, Eric and I stumbled upon what felt like a sleepy surfer’s dream. When the storm finally cleared, it revealed an incredible stretch of coastline—towering sand dunes, endless beach, and a landscape that looked almost too perfect to be real.

The catch? Access. High tides guarded the route, and with our wind window closing faster than expected, we knew we had to make a push down the beach in more water and tougher conditions than we had hoped for.

In the end, we may not have found the soaring session we had imagined, but that hardly mattered. The mission itself—the challenge of reaching and unlocking this remote spot—is something neither of us will forget.

Between the unforgettable sunrises, wild horses roaming the coastline, and the incredible hospitality of the local community, this place left us with memories that will last a lifetime.

Thanks for traveling halfway around the world to chase this one down with me, Eric. What a mission.

Wow! What a whirlwind if a season it had been here in Antarctica. I am thankful to work with this team and continue to learn and be challenged.

Intermediate Science Traverse logged some miles and ate a lot of ice cream.

The crew with @rno_greenland invited me inside their tent to check out what was happening during their testing phase before the busy season of drilling ahead starts.

This is a rapid access ice drill, shaving the ice and creating an 11 inch diameter hole that will soon be the host to a group of antennas used for detecting neutrinos and hopefully allowing us a better understanding. taken in Greenland by @barrett_ferguson

I am excited to share more looks into this amazing world. Greenland is a place that has me so intrigued and amazing by the way of life, terrain, and opportunity of exploration.

Our team successfully visited east Greenland and accessed paragliding through dogsledding and foot power. Thank you, Nicco and Valerio, for providing such an accommodating and unique experience into the Arctic. I'm glad I could be here to test this with you.

Japan was such an eye-opening experience, full of sensory overload and shift to any culture I have ever known. The immaculate detail and kindness was exuded with pride. To leave from the Antarctic, a desolate place to the biggest city one the planet was one I will never forget.

I am fortunate Cassandra and I can experienced the opportunities around the globe. Enjoy this glimpse into what I saw and felt during my time there.

Did something that I had never done before, I ran my first marathon! A trail marathon at that.

Cassandra convinced me to run the Motatapu with her during our short stay in New Zealand. It was a challenge for sure, over 3,000ft of elevation gain. There were more river crossings than we could count. But we made it. It is amazing what our bodies are capable of. The mental side of every activity we ever pursue is the most important. It took us 7 hours to get there, maybe not fast, but most importantly, we did it.

Our friend Roy joined in for the race and absolutely destroyed us. I guess I need to step up my game.

The months of training leading up to this owe a huge thank you to @antonioeffinger at @aesportsperformance , he worked with me as I was in Antarctica and far away from a normal training zone. If you need online training, give him a shout. He can tailor the workouts to your needs and work with whatever gym or lack thereof. Thanks again, Tone. Let's keep it going.

To all my friends in Queenstown and New Zealand I didn't get to see, I will surely be back for some more fun, bikes and flying! Much love. taken in Motatapu Valley. Wanaka. by @barrett_ferguson

This was a special season in Antarctica. Our small team successfully built and tested a brand new traverse platform. For me personally, this is special because it brings the world of snowcats into collaboration with the world of Antarctic traverse.

We watched this all come off a ship in pieces that had been transported across the world. Bringing our skillsets together and the help of countless other folks, we worked our asses off to make this come to life.

We welcome Intermediate Science Traverse.
I am excited to share our journey moving into the future and supporting science with the innovative flexibility this will provide.

Shout out to @cullenwelch_ for the group photo.
