I drew these characters in one of my sketchbooks using a couple of fine liner pens. It started as a warm up session, but I ended up getting really into it and wanted to do more with the characters.

I brought the sketch into CSP, made a few adjustments, and then colored it. I kept the rendering fairly simple since most of the work was already done in the original sketch.

I’ll definitely be doing more character design and concept work with these guys in the future.

I started challenging myself to ink without any outlining or penciling underneath. Sometimes I’ll sketch to warm up, but lately I’ve just been raw dogging it from imagination. That freestyle approach is very stimulating. It keeps me from overthinking and getting lost in the details.

These characters came from one of those sketch sessions. What surprised me most was how much my style changed. I usually gravitate toward anime and Western comic styles, but drawing this way pushed me into something more cartoonish and expressive.

I ended up scanning the page and coloring it digitally in CSP. I didn’t go too crazy with the rendering. Mostly flats and then added just enough to give the characters more dimensionality.

I’ve decided to finally start putting my art out into the world. I’m not really a fan of social media, but I know it’s one of the best ways to share my work and connect with people who enjoy art.

I stopped drawing for a VERY long time, and now I’ve finally picked it back up. I’ve been going hard at it all year, and 2026 has been amazing tbh. No matter what I have going on in life, I’ve made a commitment to myself to keep drawing whenever I can. Digital, traditional, painting, whatever. I’m still getting back into the swing of things and experimenting with different styles, mediums, and ideas, but I’m having a lot of fun.

With October getting closer, I’m going to start posting some Halloween themed art. I’m not sure if Edward Scissorhands is more of a Christmas or Halloween character, but I’ve always loved the film and wanted to draw him.
