A year ago today I married my best friend…and soulmate. We made our family a real thing long before this. We’d built a life, the kids loved each other, we were woven in all the right places and spaces but THIS was the moment. Her moment. The bride. My bride. She laughed. She danced. She hugged her friends. She was properly celebrated, and even though her “Mother”, “Father” and Brother tried to ruin the ONE day she tried to make all about her (more on this another time), she still had a ball. We had life plans. Not goals. Not dreams. PLANS. We were supposed to be closing on our 2nd home with Zhane today and getting on a flight tomorrow. We were well on our way to everything and then…
I haven’t spoken to or seen anyone. Haven’t read any messages. Haven’t done anything. I told myself I would if I could get thru a day without breaking down. That hasn’t happened yet. It’s hard enough getting out of bed. We didn’t even get a year. Not even a year. This doesn’t make sense in any equation. It’s not right. It’s nothing short of a catastrophic catastrophe. Even if it takes 1000 lifetimes, I will see her again.
Happy anniversary to my brave, brilliant, beautiful, Bel💔ved bride… and may she rest in peace.

It’s been rougher than normal.
In our little family this was usually the month we got to celebrate you two. Birthday for baby baby, and Mother’s Day for Beloved. Her proudest title. They were each other’s favorite person and watching them spend 3 minutes together would validate that.
It was pure. It was consistent. It was REAL. It was only those two for a time and even with all their shared love, they created space for me and The Monsters, and MEANT THAT SHIT. I remember when beloved and I realized that something permanent was happening. It was organic, it was evident and quicker than either of us expected. In that space one of the MAIN things we were worried about was how Jurnee and Noah would get along, because they’re both super sweet kids and they’re both spoiled and BAD AS FUCK 🤣. Not only did those two little terrorist get along, they actually loved each other and it had nothing to do with us.

My heart breaks for that little girl. She lost her one real parent and everything that had become consistent in her day to day life. My heart breaks for Beloved who knew before me that the end was near and only wanted to get to see her daughter skip a grade (she’s super smart) and start school. She didn’t even get to do that. None of this is right. Fuck “fair”. It’s not RIGHT.

My family will be whole again…I will kiss my wife again…even if it takes 1000 lifetimes.

2025 has been a collection of turmoil, mystery, misery, and the practice of harvesting hope. All year I’ve been wondering what the lesson is? What is life teaching me right now? Not sure…hopefully the lesson reveals itself in the end.
