I’m very honored to be playing The Good Shepherd Center this December. This historic performance space was built in 1906 and is stewarded by @historicseattle, an organization committed to preserving historic spaces in Seattle. I’m excited to play some new & old songs. I’m working on having some special guests join me.

I’m so happy to be sharing a bill with Brenna Bruce. I like her songs a lot. Following a path of curiosity and introspection, her music moves with a quiet power, balancing sharpness and tenderness with an understood patience.

Josh Rosenfeld co-founded Barsuk Records, and Death Cab for Cutie was on the label for its first four albums — the whole run before the major label, before the O.C. name-drops, before any of it. He remembers a specific shift going into Transatlanticism: the touring exhaustion and internal tension of the Photo Album years finally resolving into a sound that just clicked.

He still gets goosebumps talking about it — twenty-some years later, describing an album he already knew inside out, in a voice that sounds like he's hearing it for the first time all over again.

That's the kind of story we went looking for on this podcast: not the version people tell once a band's already massive, but the version from the person who was there before anyone knew to pay attention.

Announcing four new-old records!

To celebrate the twentieth anniversary of my first record, If you come to greet me, and the ten-year anniversary of my fourth record, Empire Builder, my beloved @barsukrecords and @jealousbutcher are rereleasing my first four records on colored vinyl with bonus material. Out October 23rd!
