So Election Day is fast approaching and I’m voting for whoever will stop the taxonomists from changing the names of birds and splitting species. Enough is enough!
I’m only kind of joking…

I saw a flamingo flying by in Texas last night! And @briantraceywrites was right under it singing and playing guitar! Such a great time at the @pilotpointcoffeehouse ! by @bartell.john2018

I was cleaning out my filing cabinet as one does in the first week of October and found an old submission form toChiron literary journal from 2020. The editors then had the good sense not to publish what I am certain was a truly horrible short story. But 26 years later they accepted my poem ‘I have these feelings’.

Never give up!

These pics are from a few years ago. I love this place, Big Bend. It’s rugged, remote and desolate. It is that unique place in our country where it’s possible to be alone in a wide open desert with only javalenas, deer and birds. Lots of birds.
It’s desolate because it’s so remote. It is a natural wall. There are no and won’t be any migrants marching through this land. It’s simply too inhospitable.
Now bulldozers are ripping through it and our state leaders are doing nothing but clapping
