Twee kanten van dezelfde bron

Naast Techno Angels on Mushrooms werkte ik dit najaar aan een tegenpool: dezelfde mycelium data, maar omgezet in stilte in plaats van harde techno. De afwisseling deed mij goed. In de nacht het heftige van de techno, een publiek dat danste en mij meesleepte in een positieve roes, de zomer van 2026 werd daardoor memorabel. Maar de volgende dag, in de stilte van mijn studio bij Château de Gressoux, daalde ik af naar de tegenovergestelde beweging: de rust.

Hetzelfde mycelium, twee talen. In de nacht een schreeuw op de dansvloer. De volgende dag een fluistering in de studio. De paddenstoelen zwegen nog steeds, het was aan mij om te kiezen welk gezicht ik hun stilte zou geven.

Toen ik onderzocht wat deze rustige klanken deden, ontdekte ik iets dat mij verraste: het ritme en de sfeer bleken uitstekend geschikt om te studeren. Het wordt nu gebruikt bij Superlearning. Ik testte het zelf, zet After the Storm zacht aan terwijl je leert, en de stof blijft beter plakken in je brein.

Dat is misschien de mooiste illustratie van waar dit alles om draait. Dezelfde acht jaar aan data konden een menigte naar het plafond laten springen en een student helpen een examen te halen. De data zelf wist dat niet. Ík onderzocht het.

De slingers hangen niet zichzelf op en soms hang je er twee tegelijk, aan verschillende muren, voor verschillende feesten. Het ene voor het lichaam dat wil dansen. Het andere voor de geest die wil leren. Beide zijn waar. Beide zijn gekozen, ter lering en de vermaak.
