Firewood KLCC, a steakhouse in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Chef Qaia Yew, ex-Bread Street Kitchen by Gordon Ramsay in Singapore.

Scallops with caviar, wood-fired mushrooms, Australian Stone Axe full blood wagyu, tiramisu to finish. But it wasn’t just the food.

Sat counter side and watched the entire kitchen work in sync, not a wasted movement between them. Every single member of staff, front of house to fire, was world class.

The head chef here featured on @jamesmartinchef show..

@pulpo__negro in Alresford, Hampshire is delivering some of the best Spanish food I’ve had in England. Head chef @mr_alemany has created something properly special here.

Tomato bread, jamón ibérica, anchovies, a broccoli dish with a smoky crumb that stopped the table, monkfish, carabinero rice — then the Rubia Gallega. Cooked over fire. Served with the best tomatoes I’ve had outside of Spain.

My wife toasted with a vermouth (after a quick nibble 😳😂). The bill came to £372 for two.

I keep coming back. Add this to your list.

Full Casa Julian reel dropping today!
Celebrating the best beef the Basque (Tolosa near San Sebastián) has to offer.
A historic restaurant obsessed with doing things properly and it shows in every bite.

I have been lucky enough to visit twice and recently joined the insane Casa Julian x Ibai collab in London. These guys just nail it every single time.

🇨🇾 Is this the best meze experience in Paphos?

Agora Tavern takes the traditional Cypriot meze and gives it a serious upgrade — without losing what makes a proper meze so good in the first place.

For €30 per person, the food just keeps coming.

Hummus, salads and dips.
Spicy cheese with caramelised nuts 🤌
Halloumi.
Lountza.
Cypriot sausage.
Fresh pita.

Then the serious stuff…

🔥 Pork souvla
🔥 Pork souvlaki
🔥 Chicken souvlaki

And that pork souvla was exceptional. Genuinely up there with some of the best meat I’ve eaten in Cyprus.

Agora has been around in Paphos for years, but its newer Old Town home gives the whole thing a much more elevated feel — beautiful surroundings, loads of character and proper Cypriot food at the heart of it.

€30pp for this amount and quality of food is ridiculous value.

Save this for your next trip to Paphos 🇨🇾

It’s very easy to end up eating in the tourist spots around Paphos, but head up into Peyia and you’ll find places like this.

Geitonia Traditional Kebab House ❤️

Proper family-run Cypriot food, cooked over charcoal, ridiculously friendly people and quite possibly the biggest pork chop I’ve ever been served 😂

We had:

🥃 Brandy sour
🫓 Pitta, hummus & tzatziki
🍳 Courgette & eggs
🧀 Grilled halloumi
🇨🇾 Sheftalia
🥩 That absolutely ridiculous pork chop

The sheftalia was brilliant, but honestly, that pork chop straight off the charcoal with loads of fresh lemon… 🤌

No fuss. No fancy presentation. Just really, really good traditional Cypriot food.

The best nasi lemak I ate in Kuala Lumpur came from a shopping mall.

I wasn’t expecting that either…

My ranking:

5️⃣ Nasi Lemak Wanjo £2.10
Fantastic staff, traditional flavours and somewhere I’d happily revisit.

4️⃣ Seri Kinabalu- my plate was £3.15
An overwhelming amount of choice and incredible value for money.

3️⃣ Nasi Lemak Burung Hantu £3.40
Not my favourite atmosphere, but seriously enjoyable food.

2️⃣ Ann Nasi Lemak, ICC Pudu - my plate was £2.75
The curried pork skin was an incredible, if slightly controversial, addition. Non-halal and surrounded by the wonderful chaos of ICC Pudu.

1️⃣ Oriental Kopi - £4
The best chicken by far. Ridiculously crunchy, incredibly juicy and still exceptional value compared with UK prices.

Honestly, there wasn’t a bad experience among them. I’d recommend trying all five.

Save this for Kuala Lumpur and send it to someone who’d happily eat five nasi lemaks with you 🇲🇾

Skip Starbucks and find places like this instead 🇲🇾☕️

Wong Mee Coffee Stall is tucked down a back alley just off Petaling Street in Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown.

Nothing fancy here. Just proper local coffee, breakfast and an absolute gent behind the counter carrying on a family tradition.

We grabbed a coffee and a cham, a Malaysian mix of coffee and tea.

Top tip: stir the bloody thing before deciding it’s not sweet 😂

This is the stuff I love finding when travelling. Places with a bit of history and character that you’d probably walk straight past if you didn’t know they were there.

Does Casa Julian warrant 6th best steak in the world for 2026?

🚨Spoiler... I see them continuing to climb the ranks! Incredible restaurant.. The food is one thing, but even the atmosphere, the staff, it's all world class.

Travel changes you in ways you don’t really notice. 🌍

The more places I visit, the more I realise how much of what we consider “normal” is simply what we grew up around.

Different country. Different culture. Different way of doing things.

Neither has to be wrong.

Maybe that’s one of the best reasons to keep travelling. ✈️

Kuala Lumpur’s cocktail scene is ridiculous 🇲🇾🍸

8 bars from our trip, and genuinely not a bad one among them. Even better, 5 of these are ranked in Asia’s Top 100 Bars for 2026. @the50bars

If I had to pick a few standouts, Three X Co was an exceptional start to the trip, Bar Trigona was faultless from start to finish, and Penrose delivered some of my favourite drinks.

But they’re all worth visiting for completely different reasons.

KL has seriously levelled up as a cocktail destination.
