A few months ago I had the one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Our @kiterunnerbway cast and the rest of the Broadway community was invited to welcome @walkwithamal to NYC when she came into Times Square. As she entered Duffy Square I was so moved in seeing her that I called out to her, “Salam Amal Khanoom, khosh omadee”, “Hello, Ms. Amal, thank you for coming”. Then she started walking over to me and embraced myself and @beejanland. Surrounded by the amazing @derrickcobey, @tamar.greene and @michaelmaliakel and underscored by the incredible @marymitchellc I cannot put into words of the impact of this hug on me that morning. @i_am_benthompson from the bottom of my heart, thank you for filling our world with love and acceptance. #walkwithamal #Amal #refugees by @barzinakhavan

Since September 2022, the people of Iran have been leading a historic revolution to overthrow Iran's brutal dictatorship. Iranians have been protesting in the streets with unfathomable bravery. In response, the regime has killed 500+ people, arrested 20,000+ more and have now turned to their last tool of repression: executions. This is the regime's last ditch effort to save themselves and terrorize their own people into submission. But Iranians will not back down It is up to us, the international community, to take a stand against these human rights abuses. A little over 13 years ago we closed an epic journey. Today we complete the full circle of that journey with another closing. Never has a project taken me on such ride, from the absolute lowest I have ever felt in my chosen field (a moment I seriously considered stepping away permanently) to the elation of hugging my Baba on an Opening Night over a decade ago. I honestly couldn’t have imagined the last 30 days would turn out the way the have. David Ira Goldstein, azizehman, I can never thank you enough. For believing in me, for giving me a chance to shine, for allowing me to truly learn what my voice sounded like (in more ways than one). Tashakur Agha Sahib. Matthew Spangler @matthew.spangler.1, thank you for your words, your final desire to have me be a part of your show, your friendship. Tashakur Agha. Harriet Bass @bassharriet , when the team came to NYC to keep searching for actors, you kept my headshot on the top of the pile and after they saw an actor they liked for the role, you would point to mine and say, “Don’t forget you saw Barzin in California and you loved him”. During these days, relatives and acquaintances gather together and mourn, in order to commemorate their loved one and relieve the pain and sadness associated with the death of their family member. This is a time for the living to embrace the pain and sadness of losing a loved one by joining together in honor of their memory. 40 days ago Jina Amini was brutally murdered by Iran's so called Morality Police". For 40 days many of us around the world have mourned for her and the injustice she has suffered as if she were our family. She is our family.
