BRB, kinda busy hanging off a mountain 🧗‍♀️⛰️ 📍Gold Mountain Via Ferrata | Ouray, Colorado Our first via ferrata didn’t disappoint! If you’re looking for a unique adventure in Colorado, add this one to your list! We started at Base Camp at 8 AM and spent about 4 hours making our way up Gold Mountain climbing rock faces, crossing suspended bridges, and taking in some of the most incredible views of Ouray and the surrounding San Juan Mountains. 📍 Ouray elevation: 7,792 ft ⛰️ Climbed up to ~9,500 ft ⏰ Start time: 8 AM 🌲 Duration: about 3-4 hours 🪢 Rock climbing + suspended bridges 🧗‍♀️ Guided throughout the entire route 🏔️ Incredible San Juan Mountain views Our guide was amazing and made the entire experience even better. This is what Livicy Weekend Warrior is all about. Almost everyone on this trip came in with little to no climbing experience. Some were afraid of heights. Some weren’t sure they could physically do it. Some had no idea what they were getting themselves into! They just trusted it would be worth the experience. The goal was never just to climb a mountain. It was to get outside of our comfort zones. To get our hearts racing. To challenge ourselves. To trust the people around us. And to accomplish something together that, just a few hours earlier, some of us weren’t sure we could do. Safety was always the priority but right behind it was growth. At Livicy, we search for experiences that do more than give you a good story or a cool video. We want experiences that bring people together, push you beyond what’s comfortable, and remind you what you’re capable of. Ask any guide what their favorite time of year is to climb ice in the San Juans… 99% will say EARLY SEASON! Of course every year looks a little different, but generally speaking we are swinging tools at higher elevations around Ouray and Silverton by mid-November. This time of year is special because we can drive roads that become inaccessible later in the year once the snow piles up. For those with a bit of previous ice climbing experience, there is tremendous potential to climb familiar routes in new, thinner and more interesting condition, as well as tick new routes off the list. Crowds are virtually non existent and it’s an amazing time to climb ice in the San Juan Mountains!
