Floating plywood backed gallery walls are up along with new lighting at @basecoat_gallery

The bottom edge has equal thickness pvc sheet to prevent any damage if there happened to be a flood.

Sheetrock, joint compound, and paint will be coming next.

@basecoat_gallery Framing is complete. Plywood backing will be going on top.

The ‘studs’ are actually hanging from the joists to create a box and there are no penetrations from the studs to the waterproofed walls. The ‘footers’ are actually floating above the slightly uneven floor. The footers have aluminum channel on the floor facing side, so there is no contact between the floor and the wood.

SOUND ON: Steve Reich’s “Music for Pieces of Wood” to commemorate the beginning of the #woodframing of @basecoat_gallery ‘s walls.

At this stage of laying out the studs, they look like timber versions of #barnetnewman ‘zips’ . . .

@basecoat_gallery is looking more like a gallery . . .

Waterproofing on the concrete block walls with @drylokwaterproofer hydraulic cement to fill any holes from the previous furring strips and then two coats of Extreme will keep the moisture out. The new plywood backed walls will go on top, but hang from the joists and not put in any penetrations through the concrete block. But next up is the floor…

Demolition complete. The space is a little goth in its current iteration and has a @banks_violette_616 vibe.

Next up: waterproofing the walls with hydraulic cement and paint (from @drylokwaterproofer )
