This is the last trip update since I've been home for a while now and I should have had this done. While the lounges in Narita were fantastic for their food options, the ana business class on the older 787 was not as exciting as I was hoping. Not saying it was bad. But the plane showed its age and while the service was good I wasn't stunned by it. The amenities kit was really lacking for an 8 hour flight. I landed in Seattle and spent the day walking around and taking a nap where I got my clam chowder. At the airport my phone died so I played chess with this guy while he let me charge it. I had gotten denied from getting into the lounge the first time so I went full Karen mode. I showed them the specific terms that allowed me to get into the lounge which most of the employees didn't know about. Too bad the lounge had awful food options. I was having trouble getting my name on the upgrade list for the flight but the woman working the desk was so helpful so shout out to her. I got to be number one on the list because I had the highest status on the flight. Strangely first class was booked out, but the premium seats were so roomy it was fine. Anyways I'll make some more posts about the trip in a different format later. by @basedche

Tokyo part two. This post is mostly food, but isn't that what Japan is all about. The yen is really weak compared to the dollar right now. For example this 2200 yen sushi set is about 17 dollars. The Tokyo national museum had a "national treasures in 100 years" exhibit. It featured things like hatsune miku, and 7/11 which I explained to a Japanese man that it is in fact American and not Japanese. I went to a hot spring and got the traditional fruit milk drink and then a bowl of udon. Honestly I found the ramen in Japan to not be significantly better than what we have in LA. I went to Tokyo Disneysea on coming of age day so all the women were in beautiful furisode kimonos while the men just wore suits. Even though it was a holiday Disney was only 70 usd which LA Disneyland hasn't been for probably 15 years. People say to get lost in Tokyo, when I got lost I found myself where they have all the love hotels. So my recommendations is to get lost in a more touristy area. Japan is probably the country I want to go back to the most. Only one more post after this. by @basedche

Thai airways and Tokyo part one. So I got home a while ago actually I'm just behind on the posts. I was able to secure a flight to Bangkok in Thai airways business on the 777-300er. Having a proper business class where you have the whole aisle feels way more premium than having someone next to you. I slept the night before the flight at the airport. Luckily the Oman air lounge is 24 hours a day so I was able to sleep on their nice little bed/couch thing. Service was great on the flight but the food was a little bit underwhelming as the salmon seemed a bit dry. People acted like Tokyo was freezing cold, I saw so many people bundled up like they were in Vienna. Japanese advertisement is just like the sterotypes, a lot of weird energetic ads and anime stuff. The Hyatt regency tokyo upgraded me to a room with a view that I could see Mt Fuji from in the morning. Unfortunately the breakfast at the Hyatt is rather disappointing and was not the quality I was expecting. I went to a park and it was really pretty so that's a plus one for Tokyo. by @basedche

Bangkok post. I actually didn't get to spend much time looking around Bangkok because I had to look for a flights to get home. Honestly some of what I saw was underwhelming. Bangkok had this almost fake feel to it. The palace felt like a tourist trap more than a sacred place. The museum had a lot of artifacts but did very little to tell the story of Thailand itself. It is a bit weird having portraits of the monarchs all around the city. But there definitely is a lot to do and I had the most fun walking around and seeing interesting Starbucks and other random things. The corn pie from McDonaldswas absolutely disgusting I don't understand how anyone can like eating it 2/10. I actually would want to go back to spend more time doing things that I was just too busy to do. The grand Hyatt had a fantastic dinner spread and breakfast for club level guests so I can definitely recommend the hotel for the price. The rooms do feel a little bit dated, but the bathrooms were recently remodeled. by @basedche

The Siem Reap post. I did new years in Cambodia and I have to say Siem reap is a place where people like to party. Drinks are so cheap you can get a beer for 50 cents and a cocktail for 1.50. Even at the clubs the drinks are only 3 dollars. But I didn't come to siem reap to party I came to see the angkor wat. The whole angkor wat and angkor Thom areas are beautiful. New years eve I stayed at the park Hyatt which has a spectacular breakfast and had a welcome drink as well as complimentary food in the room. After that I moved to a hostel because it was like 7 dollars a night and I was doing my tours through them. The ticket to get into angkor wat is a bit pricey, 62 dollars for a 3 day pass. But it is definitely worth it. There is plenty of great food in siem reap and they use usd and speak a lot of English because of the tourism. If you're in South East Asia I think you'll find that siem reap will give you one of your richest experiences. And yes they all thought I was Cambodian until I spoke, this happens in every SEA country. by @basedche

For the sake of time we are combining jakarta part 2 and Jogja. Honestly I find it hard to recommend going to jakarta, there just isn't that much to do. That'd doesn't mean you shouldn't go to Indonesia in general. Jakarta is a good base of operations, but I would suggest exploring other parts of the country. Visiting borobudur and prambanan near Jogja I can easily say that prambanan is much more impressive as you get to be much closer than you are allowed to at borobudur. I understand tourists destroy ancient buildings, and regulations are fine. Just don't get your hopes up for borobudur. For the next while all the flights are on budget Asian airlines because it's cheap and short. I actually stayed at a hostel in borobudur and I have to say the experience was good. You get to meet people that you're going on tours with and as long as you can deal with the bathrooms not always being perfect hostels are a great choice considering they cost like 8 dollars in south east Asia. by @basedche

This is the landscape jakarta post. Becsuse instagram is terrible and you cant really mix landscape and portrait photos here we are. Okay so we got a lot of catching up to do. First things first the park Hyatt jakarta is fantastic. The room had a smell and they eventually moved us after it didn't get fixed. The museum at jakarta is one of the worst national museums I've been to, it is not worth the trip. I also stayed at the grand haytt jakarta which has a much better lounge that offers a wider selection of food. But I would take the park hyatts smaller evening offering of small snacks and 2 cocktails just for the atmosphere at the bar which had the coolest guy playing piano. The staff are fantastic and South East Asia in general already has fantastic service. Sometimes the service is too good. Like they try to do everything for you when you can walk up to the room by yourself. by @basedche

The no I didn't die in a plane crash post. Alright so I have a lot of things I love and hate about emirates. Love the business class lounge in Dubai it's exactly what you would expect, gigantic. Everything you need is there. I have to say the showers are small and do not have a toilet and sink with it. The food is great you can get both Eastern and Western (shout out to Matin). The champagne they have is amazing moet 2013 vintage, ask for a bottle next chirstmas or something. Now the flight, emirate business is a 2-2-2 configuration so you have a neighbor. Their style is also so gauty and tacky. However, the lie down seats are comfortable and the staff really is the highlight, they are so attentive. They give you so much food there's no way you can eat all of your meals. It was the first steak I had in a plane and honestly I can give it a 7 out 10 which is good since a for me is domestic wagyu from lake side in Vegas. I promise I'll post something more regularly by @basedche
