YES PERSON: A new experimental circus show that celebrates the ideas too peculiar to come to fruition heads to @the_lowry next week.

Yes Person, which lands at Lowry Thu 8 Oct as part of a limited run, is inspired by the concept of ‘killing one’s darlings’, the creative process of discarding beloved but unfit ideas.

Described as ‘new wave circus’, the show blends comedy and impressive physical feats, offering these left-behind ideas, ones deemed too mismatched, ambitious or nonsensical, a second chance to flourish, expand and spiral out of control on stage.

Yes Person comes from Berlin-based collective, @basedonkimberly, in collaboration with @cirkohelsinki. Audiences can expect an hour of authentically devised performance packed with a variety of funky circus disciplines and inventive, at times bizarre, action.

HELSINKI! Two sold-out shows 💗 Tonight, Memoirs of Mud one last time at @caisahelsinki, 19:30.
Yesterday we finally had our Finnish premiere- A strange little big show about mud, memories, bodies, landscapes, home, and whatever else somehow found its way into it. Nobody knows when Memoirs of Mud will be played next. But for tonight, we play, cry and laugh out loud together.

What if you said "yes" to everything you've already said "no" to?

Yes Person drags its old darlings back from the grave and onto the stage. Part stand-up circus, part performance art, it's a collage of fantastically terrible ideas: shamelessly embarrassing and absurdly ambitious.

Would you dare to bring back all your killed darlings?

Yes Person drags its old darlings back from the grave and back on stage. Part stand-up circus, part performance art, it is a collage of fantastically terrible ideas — shamelessly embarrassing, stupidly high-level.

Following a five-star run at Edinburgh Fringe, this new wave, new wonk circus performance comes to London for two nights only! Experimental, physical, fashionable, and satirical work by Inka Pehkonen and Imogen Huzel from @basedonkimberly.

The performances will take place at @jacksons_lane in London on 9-10 October 7pm.

Yes Person is supported by the Finnish Institute in the UK and Ireland. Other partners and supporters include: CIRKO - Center for New Circus in Helsinki, Subtopia, Arts Promotion Centre Finland, European Union and the Goethe-Institut, Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation.

Four years later, we are finally doing it. Memoirs of Mud will be at Helsinki Circus Festival, 10 & 11 September at Caisa.

This show somehow has its roots in Finland — Inka comes from Finland, and Imogen is a fake Finn anyway. And the show itself was created with so much of the Finnish landscape, memories and questions in it, that it feels quite emotional to finally be able to perform it in Finland.

Four years ago, we premiered this strange little show. Since then, it has grown, changed, travelled — and so have we. But at its heart, it’s still the same strange little universe where nature meets artificiality, handbags become greenhouses, potatoes become crowns, and two humans try to make sense of the world.

FINALLY, FINLAND. ❤️
