Yesterday ended up being One Fine Day with the sunshine and mid 60s temps coming outta nowhere. Did a 25mi hill climb route with Preston followed in the evening by the first Basic Owners Group, BOG, ride ever. Many more to come and with many more people I hope!

Tyler of @basiccycle.co just visited with his sweet Basic Road bike! 🕊️ Columbus tubing rolling on @reneherse 700x35 rubber is silky smooth and ready to handle a little somethin’ extra. We appreciate the little details, like the @paragonmachine downtube braze on stops and barrel adjusters, and the paintwork with maroon sparkly logos are super pretty in the light. ✨ Sweet touches like a paint-matched frame pump, little @bluelug koma rear light, polished @whiteind crank and headset, and nicely brazed @simworksusa stem all tie the room together. Tyler also taught me all about his OG Cinelli Unicanitor saddle complete with extra drilled holes for flex…or weight savings? or aerodynamic speed holes?? All of the above? Spooky season is here and that’s making me long for some epic fall rides like last years Rapha FAR. Ended up doing 138mi with 10k ft of climbing and had a blast. Remember all bikes are for jumping!

WARNING: NON-ROAD FRAME CONTENT AHEAD 🚴‍♂️🏕️

This past weekend, I tried a new cycling adventure: overnight bike camping and touring. For the past three years, I’ve been invited by @sizem_re to join the Olympic Adventure Trail ride & camp trip, and this year I finally made it happen.

To make it even more adventurous, I rode from Tacoma to Port Angeles on Friday—117 miles and over 7k feet of climbing—with all my camping gear packed on my bike. This was all made possible by my freshly built 1983 Trek Touring/Rando bike, which I had just finished assembling a few days before the trip.

I added some gravel to the route from my 2017 @rapha_sea Transfer ride, just to test the bike's handling off-road before hitting the 25 miles of singletrack we had in store for Saturday. The bike performed flawlessly, my legs felt great, and overall, Friday was a success.

Saturday and Sunday? A blur of adventure, tons of climbing, and fast singletrack, bushwhacking through tight trails with my low, wide panniers, and plenty of dehydrated meals. We made it up to Sol Duc Hot Springs (highly recommend), sat on the dock to soak in the final morning sun, and then rode back to the cars and home on Monday.

This trip has me thinking—our next Basic model might just be a 650b touring/rando bike. I love the feel of this bike and how it stands apart from our current road offering. Stay tuned. by @basiccycle.co

Basic 006 for @sizem_re Really excited to have Taylor riding a bike I've produced after he’s handmade me 3 bikes over the years. Built up with full Shimano 105, Campy wheels with a Shimano free hub (what 🤯) and a full assortment of aliexpress finds. All topped off with a @routewerks bag to carry the goods. I really dig the Meissen Blue with all black parts. Maybe it’s time to rebuild mine…

Basic 005 Embrace your inner goth and fall in love with this modern lightweight build done by @thegcphl for @willlovestacos 🖤 Coming in at 17.4 lbs as it sits. It’s really cool seeing frames getting built up and how each owner puts their stamp on the build. Will went with a full Ultegra 11s mechanical groupset with @envecomposites cockpit, @whiteind headset & bb, carbon wheels and topped it off with a @selle_italia saddle.
