You might have already seen what’s up, but I’m happy to announce I’ve launched a record label. (@nazar_hel ) This is a project that’s been in the works for two years since its initial inception, and it’s finally seeing the light of day. I’m really happy to get this going, this is a purely passionate affair built on love for the music and the culture around it. NAZAR001 features a VA with local heavyweights. The A side features General Electrix (@general.electrix )and Asyx(@asyx45yx ), while the B side features Kaiunta (@mitjakaiunta )and 53X (@jonne_53x ). As someone who enjoys electronic music as a whole, I wanted to focus on variety on the record, and boy did they deliver. As someone who’s been obsessing over vinyl, I’m glad to say this release will also be available on the physical medium. A special shout-out to the artists, without whom this wouldn’t have been possible. This is a showcase of the talent beneath the surface, more to follow! Big up to the local label heads who advised me along the way and provided guidance when I needed it. We truly have a supportive community at large. Preorders for vinyl are up. It's stocked at One Eye Witness, Clone, Deejay, Red Eye Records, HHV, Decks and Juno web stores already. Digital pre orders will be available soon too. One track will be available for download and the rest on release day. A project that almost got buried but here it is, Koffrace 2023. An after movie I put together. Beginning of last summer I impulsively bought a super 8 film camera with the thought of recording a project or two with it. Picked up a Braun Nizo 2056 in Helsinki from an enthusiast who had quite a few in his collection. He gave me a quick tutorial and off I went. The first film cartridge I popped in mostly went to waste as I didn't realize I forgot I had to lock the shutter and put it in my bag without thinking. Ended up with 30s of footage and the rest all dark. One of these cartridges holds approximately 3 minutes of footage total and isn't cheap if I may add. Second cartridge I popped in was specifically intended to record the koffrace. Never had the chance to actually visit one in person as I always just saw stories after but this year I was determined to make it. Woke up all crusty on that Sunday, pulled up with no plan in mind and got to shooting. Unfortunately I didn't manage to capture the winners but I was still satisfied with the outcome. 00 collective debuts with the new big-room series SUBSEQUENCE in Kaiku on Saturday 11.04. For the first edition, the Helsinki-based party unit hosts Luca Lozano, as well as long standing residents and friends of the collective. Known for the devoted work behind the scenes and running a popularly unknown off-the-radar venue, 00c now surfaces a layer up for the first collaboration with club Kaiku. The new SUBSEQUENCE night aims to amplify bullet-proof club music in big-room setting, cherishing the roots and experimentation in equal share. From experience, there are few people more fitting for the mission than Luca Lozano. Having already made history with audio-visual works via Klasse Wrecks and otherwise, the rave devotee will be bringing years of experience to the closing set of the night. Carlina Carpelan, as well as Nikita DJ and DJ Aleksi playing a joint set, lay the grounds. Kammari is taken over by local gems with a bold sound arsenal, covering the UK tradition, bass and minimalist prog sounds, to name a few. Follow 00c for more info on the programme.
