Three years around the fire 🔥

Baso is back in the @michelinguide for 2026, marking our third consecutive year of recognition.

And there’s more to celebrate: our very own Jacques Varon and Max Lappe have been recognized with the MICHELIN Young Chef Award 2026.

Big love to our incredible team, our Houston community, and everyone who’s pulled up a chair along the way.

The fire’s still burning. We’ll see you at dinner ❤️‍🔥

We woke up to some very good news ❤️‍🔥 Thank you @beardfoundation for the honor of a lifetime and to our entire team here at Baso.

We want to extend a huge congrats to all of our fellow nominees, and a special shoutout to all of our friends and neighbors in this big beautiful city. We love you Houston.

Feeling incredibly grateful to land the 11th spot on the Houston Chronicle’s Top 100 Restaurants list ❤️‍🔥

A huge thank you is in order to every guest who’s dined with us, celebrated with us, told a friend about us, or simply shared a meal with us. You’re the reason we get to do what we love 🫶🥂 by @basohtx

STAFF SPOTLIGHT: MARIO 🍌

Aries Sun. Gemini Moon. Cancer Rising. Pastry chef. Cat dad.

“A mille-feuille of a man.” - @cwrmth, Bar Manager

Originally from Monterrey, Mexico, Mario spent some time learning the ropes in France before making his way through Le Jardinier and eventually landing in our kitchen.

When he’s not making something, he’s probably building LEGOs, tending to his fish tank, watching movies, or hanging out with his cat, Lana 🥹

“Mario brings more whimsy and we love that” - @notanobject, Wine Director

His karaoke song of choice remains “I’m Not Okay (I Promise)” by My Chemical Romance. “Mario respects millennial white girl music” - @syrahd, General Manager.

And we respect that.

And speaking of Mario’s work 🍌 Allow us to reintroduce Sexy Banana 2.0: Rum and tres leches-soaked banana cake with crème fraîche Chantilly and rum caramel sauce.

You need it.

Give Mario some love 🍨🧡🍌 by @basohtx
