It’s been quite the birthday celebration. I’m officially 45! And so grateful for the friends that I got to celebrate with in person and in spirit. I recently took a Lindy hop class. I went to see a performance and got to dance with my teacher. This was a highlight of the year. Learning to imperfectly follow was such a gift. Sometimes I had to be dragged, other times I could just surrender. Being in charge often kept me feeling safe, but when in the right hands - so does surrender. Thank you to my broad community of people who love me everyday because of who I am. by @bassoon121

In less than 5 days I will be 45! Today are some pics of me and mom from this year. Without her there is no me. Highlights, getting to bring Mom to Puerto Rico so she could meet my college roommates family. There is a reason Maria and I were put in the same room- we are long lost sister spirits that needed each other to learn from. Also getting to spend quality time in NYC with mom and aunty. by @bassoon121

We are 19 days away from 45! Got to see @nyphilharmonic with @nizbsn we recounted our high school days of bassoon adventures. I got to hear my friend nerd out about her favorite Sibelius symphony. Then we spotted a fellow @applehillmusic alum on stage. it was a great night. More music to come! Now if we could just get reeds that work in winter and summer. by @bassoon121

When everyone seems to be going on a girls trip to #portugal you might think it’s overrated, but alas! The transforming power of good food, good wine, and good people is in fact impossible to transmit via image and video. It can only be truly felt by walking through the streets and experiencing it. Thank you to my sister friends for coming with me in the adventure. And thank you to @sophia_s_place for your amazing hospitality! I was blessed by Chef Sophia, in my belly and in my heart. Also our afternoon at Asha’s Place a healing community for the everyone, but especially the black diaspora that find their way to this healing space. truly a trip to remember. by @bassoon121
