FIRST OF ALLLLLL thank you SO MUCH to everyone who came to Bastrop Pride’s first-ever book club meeting this week!!!

It was an incredibly rich, insightful discussion about rest, capitalism, white supremacy, grind culture, and technology — with our first book, Rest is Resistance by Tricia Hersey, as our guide.

Next month we’re discussing another book that is near and dear to my heart: Mutual Aid by Dean Spade.

This book is also available in all reading formats, and it’s a pretty quick/short read too (~150 pgs). As always, please join us whether you’ve finished reading the book or not! Your input and presence is still valued and appreciated regardless. 💗

For anyone who might be new to Bastrop Pride’s meetings:
These ARE being held at Calvary Episcopal Church’s Parish Hall (at 1028 Main St). We expect to be sharing the space with another group every 2nd Tuesday, so if you show up and see a bunch of boy scouts & their parents, don’t panic! 😂 You’re in the right place! For now, you should be able to find us in their library/conference room in the back corner of the building. We will try to have signs pointing you to where we’re gathered!

We plan to share a list of all the upcoming books we have picked out to read over the next several months, so keep an eye out for another post about that in the coming weeks.

Our monthly trail hike is happening TOMORROW - Saturday, September 26th!

We’re attempting to beat the late summer / early autumn Texas heat by meeting at 7 PM at Bob Bryant Park.

This is for all ages & dogs are welcome. Bring your hiking shoes and water, and be prepared to hike for about 90 minutes.

Bastrop Pride’s Youth Leadership is meeting TOMORROW!

WHEN: Wednesday, Sept 23, from 6:30-8 PM
WHERE: Bastrop Public Library’s Teen Room (walk in and head straight back to the right)

We usually meet every 4th Tuesday of the month, but for September & October we’re meeting on the 4th *Wednesday* instead.
