Closed the first Fruit Basket chapter with these fine laddies last Tuesday in the Tolhuistuin. Thanks everybody for coming out.

Starting the Last Waltz project very soon with Dawn Brothers.

Still got a couple dozen Fruit Basket LPs in my Bandcamp shop if you wanna buy. The perfect gift to jumpscare your Floydhead hi-fi uncle during Christmas.

Pics @kt.bassick by @basvanholt

FRUIT BASKET ALBUM IS OUT!!
Being a songmaker is like having a fruit tree in your garden. But when you don’t pick the fruit it doesn’t mean the tree stops bearing. Leaving them to rot would be a waste, so you turn them into marmalade or give them to your neighbors.

These songs fell off my tree and never really got a place on a Dawn Brothers or Double Cream record. So I spent some time polishing demos, re-recorded some stuff and wrapped up the thing in a fruit basket.
(Continue reading beneath the next slide…)

It is indeed a ‘self’-album, but there’s actually a bunch of awesome people that worked on it.

Tim van der Burg: Mixing. One of my bestest friends and he was the go-to guy. I knew he knew my taste in the holy trinity of gritty, witty and pretty.

Ties Voskamp: Drums on ‘I Don’t Wanna Be Slowed Down’ and ‘Feeling Lonely’. My old primary school friend and my first bandmate at 9 years old.

Darryl Ciggaar: Drums on ‘Love Is A Race’, ‘If I Had Wings’ and ‘Hold A Candle’. My old high school friend. My first “real” band was with him. I’d like to praise Darryl as much as I can because I genuinely think he is the real deal and one of the best musicians around. He turned me on to such a wide array of amazing music. I can only be thankful for that.

Pablo van de Poel: The guitar solo on ‘Love Is A Race’. He did that solo in two takes: the first is what you hear on the left channel and the second is the right channel. It is FAST, it is natural and it is on ACOUSTIC GUITAR?! The current Godfather of the Dutch rock’n’roll scene is as talented and charming as that title would suggest. I send him most of my demo work and he always has honest and helpful feedback. And in return he has not forgotten to send me a gift on my birthday in the last 10 years - what a guy.

Jelle Rozenburg and Yanna Pelser: guitar and (pizzicato) viola on ‘Blue Mountain’. Jelle is also a high school mate and we both live in Schiedam. I closely follow him and his partner Yanna online because they are literal string wizards from another world. I called Jelle one morning to ask if they wanted to come record a track with me. They live around the corner, so an hour later they set up and another ho by @basvanholt

Dus: zin in een mooi concert a.s. zondag?

📅 zondag 6 september 2026
🕗 deuren open: 19.00 uur / aanvang: 20.00 uur
🎟️ €12,50 (incl servicefee)

-> @rotownrotterdam

You’re a bad friend and you know it. You are afraid your friends will come and get you for it. But you’re a bad friend. So you get them first. No remorse. That’s the plot.

New single out. There’s also a guitar solo that I like and Gollum sounds at the end.

Played it myself, mix @baylvvv, master @jerboamastering.

Fruit Basket is out Sep 4. Release in Rotterdam @hettheehuis010 Sep 6. CU?! by @basvanholt
