The Conjuring House, originally known as the Old Arnold Estate, is a historic farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode Island, built in 1736. The property was once a working farm of roughly 200 acres and was home to generations of families who lived and died on the land. In 1971, the Perron family moved into the house and began experiencing the paranormal events that would later inspire The Conjuring. Nearly 300 years later, the original farmhouse still stands—and remains one of the most infamous haunted locations in America.

There was something unsettling about standing inside a house with so much history. The Perron family reported years of strange activity throughout these rooms. The Warrens later investigated the property, adding to its infamous reputation. Even knowing all the stories, nothing quite prepared me for actually being there.

Walking through this house felt like stepping directly into a piece of paranormal history. Every room carries stories of strange experiences, unexplained activity, and the people who lived here before. Knowing what the Perron family experienced made every creak and shadow feel a little more unsettling. There was something about being inside that made the history feel much more real.

Roger & Carolyn's bedroom & now library.

One of the most terrifying figures reported by the Perron family was a woman with a severely bent or broken neck, who appeared throughout the house. Andrea Perron described her as one of the most frequently seen apparitions, and the family eventually associated her with the tragic history of a woman who had died by hanging. Years later, children attending a daycare in the house reportedly drew remarkably similar images of the same crooked-neck woman.

This living room was the site of one of the most terrifying events reported by the Perron family. During a séance conducted by Lorraine Warren, Carolyn Perron reportedly began speaking in a voice that wasn’t her own before her chair lifted from the floor and she was thrown across the room. Andrea, who secretly watched the séance, said she believed her mother was going to die. Roger Perron was so disturbed by what happened that he ordered the taken in Conjuring House by @bat.wings
