(day before) birthday at @ravensmanor ! We made the Espressomancer and Dante's Devotion, then I had another drink with dinner called Daemon Ritus that was REALLY good but left my head swimming! And the tiki mugs are for sale so of course we got one.

After dinner we skipped across the street to conspirators and had coffee to bring us back from the dead. Their affogato with custard is to die for!

As always it was lovely to see Mordred and meet Mr. Munculus, who was our darling devious doctor for the evening. It's good to be a goth in Portland 🦇🦇🦇🖤🖤🖤🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛ taken in Raven's Manor by @batladyrielle

New Year's Day starts at the Japanese Garden. It was cold and rainy but the garden is beautiful in any weather. A truly peaceful way to start the year! by @batladyrielle

Our first (and only) Trick-or-Treaters. The Boy, our friendly (ish) neighborhood shadow, and Mr. Peach the block Mayor. They were very eager to get their treats before it gets dark and scary out!

The Boy didn't have an obvious costume but keen observers will note that he is here as his friendly self, which is costume enough as he is typically very Tsundere. Mr. Peach is sporting a blue sweater and while I'm not 100% sure what is costume is, i think he's going as Steve (which is what the neighbors call him, even though his collar says "Peach").

Café staycation day 2 and The Will of the Many is complete! Fantastic book, tysm @thissocalledmike !

Checked out another local cafe that also had rose and cardamom, so of course I had to try it. They also had turkey pesto paninis which came with the unexpected delight of a side of applesauce. The rose was REALLY strong- i get that it's a classic combination but it really just had me craving a Nectar of the Gods from Tov. Those folks know how to let cardamom shine and satisfy my need for more and more cardamom. If only I didn't suck at parking...

So far my only real complaint about going to cafes in Milwaukie is parking- 2hr parking means if I want to stay i have to awkwardly go move my car then come back and hope my spot is still available. 😞

As vacations go this one is pretty good honestly- all the fun of going to new places with none of the worry about my cat. Plus I still get that sweet sweet Oregon water iykyk.

Tomorrow is the 3rd and final day. There's a bakery opening downtown, so my destination is locked in. Which book to start next though.... by @batladyrielle

First day of my cafe staycation! Breakfast at @keepercoffeeco where I had a very nice cappuccino and a delicious bowl of oatmeal. The Will of the Many immediately pulled me in, so much so that I didn't notice a curious bee until it was nearly in my face! Two gorgeously tattooed ladies nearby were watching it on h behalf, ready to intervene, but thankfully I noticed before it got TOO close. I'm not afraid of bees but I was startled enough to yell in alarm.

Then after my 2hr parking limit was up I headed over to @conspiratorscoffeelounge downtown for an iced coffee (they were out of lemonade for my beloved Hibiscus lemonade at first). It was very comfy reading in the yellow chair that feels very like a throne. It's a great place to read and drink- the decor creates the perfect atmosphere, and the music combined with the gentle ambient chatter made for a very cozy reading session.

Still deciding where to go tomorrow for day two, but this is very relaxing- moreso than just rotting in bed at home. by @batladyrielle

An amazing birthday gift from the always amazing @thissocalledmike ! I've been lamenting but my lack of new things to read and the long library wait times for books, and this fiend acquired some fantastic books to solve this problem. I'm very grateful to have such a kind friend, and that I was able to put my cat to work displaying these books.

Playing Camp Grizzly, a game that currently sells for $300 on eBay 😱

In this game you play as camp counselors trying to escape while a murderer, Otis, is on the loose. It's like playing a slasher in board game form.

First game we escaped by making it to the Ranger Tower and fighting off Otis with the cops (who are usually a pain in the butt in the game).

Second game @selshan got murdered in the dining hall after taking a face full of glass. I almost made it to the van before getting beat with my own bat 😭 literally one round away from safety!! Poor C.J. by @batladyrielle

Flowers from my yard today. As I sat outside enjoying the spring weather, wind caused these lovely pink petals to rain down, decorating me and the visiting neighbor cats as well. The pink flowers are some kind of Drupe, as they turn into small cherry like fruit in the early summer. The white flowers are blueberries. by @batladyrielle

Happy New Year! We start the new year at the Portland Japanese Garden and it really is the best tradition. It's always so beautiful! After a lovely morning at the garden we had brunch at Screen Door. No matter what the year brings, I'm still so happy to live in Portland. #happynewyear by @batladyrielle
