BATS is turning 40!

Please raise the roof with us on November 13 for BATS’ 40th Anniversary Celebration. This elegant and playful evening will honor our four decades of improvisational innovation, play and joy that have lit up our stages, sparked our classrooms and brought our ever-growing community together for stories and discovery. Dress in your own marvelous version of cocktail attire and let’s all reunite with friends, artists, alumni, and the many lovely people who have shaped BATS through every era.We’ll have a delicious catered buffet supper, thoughtfully prepared to welcome a range of dietary needs, as well as an array of beverages and desserts. Throughout the evening we’ll applaud all things BATS: from the founders and early voices of the1980s (!) through to the artists who are reimagining BATS today. Let’s gather to compare stories, laugh, connect or reconnect, be amazed at photos that mark the decades, take new photos, and dance in “what comes next.”Come raise a glass to honor our past—and imagine the future together!

🏆 Congratulations to our Maestro Finale Champion, Will Gutzman!

Will took home the title in an exciting finale, representing his improv team Improv on Demand!

A few things you might not know about our new Maestro Champion:
🎓 Will was a longtime leader of the Stanford Improvisors (SImps), serving as co-president for four years.
🎭 At BATS, Will wears many hats: Company Player, teacher, coach, and School & @work Administrator!
🌎 He’s dedicated to spreading the improv message far and wide, teaching and facilitating improv-based work with both kids and adults.

And a huge shoutout to our special runner-up, Sage Simms, who came one mear point away from the win. 👏🔥

One last chance to experience a Broadway musical that doesn’t exist until you walk through the door!

Spontaneous Broadway: An Improvised Musical returns for its closing night Saturday, September 12 at 8pm. The cast creates original songs, characters, and stories entirely on the spot, inspired by YOUR made-up musical titles. 🎤✨

In Act One, YOU choose your favorite song. Then Act Two takes that winning number and spins it into a fully improvised musical with new songs, unexpected plot twists, memorable characters, and a reprise of the audience-favorite number. You’ll never see the same musical twice!
