Sometimes, showing up for someone can be simpler than we think 💙

To kick off Mental Health Month, we asked the batyr team: What’s one way someone has shown up for you recently?

This year’s theme, Together We Thrive, is all about the role connection, care and community can play in our mental health.

Who’s shown up for you lately? 🫶🐘 by @batyraus

What does it really mean to show up for each other? 💙

We got to ask @nyimatucker some questions! Have a listen as she shares her perspective on looking out for each other and the role connection can play in our wellbeing, from the strength we find in our communities to the importance of simply being heard.

Sometimes, supporting someone isn’t about having the answers; it’s about being there 🫂

Thank you, Nyima, for sharing your voice with us 🫶 by @batyraus

Young people should be part of the conversations and decisions that affect their lives 🗣️

For the rest of 2026, we’re creating more opportunities for young people to shape, inform and lead our work, whether that’s through creating content, advocating for change or sharing experiences to help inform what we do 💙

No previous experience is needed, and you’ll always be able to choose what opportunities feel right for you. If you’ve got something to say about the issues facing young people, we want to hear from you 💬

Last week, batyr CEO Pat and Head of Philanthropy Lucy were honoured to attend the 4th annual Rare Impact Fund Benefit in Los Angeles, hosted by the incredible @selenagomez and the @rarebeauty impact team 💙

The Rare Impact Fund is dedicated to expanding access to mental health education and services for young people around the world. Through its commitment to donate 1% of Rare Beauty sales to the Fund, it’s supporting 30 nonprofit partners across five continents, reaching more than 3.5 million young people each year 🌏✨

We’re three years into our partnership and so grateful to be the Fund’s only Australian charity partner, working together to create a world where every young person feels equipped to look after their mental health and support their mates 🐘

We were also excited to be featured in the event’s virtual charity showcase, which profiles the work of batyr alongside other incredible charities.

Thank you to the Rare Impact Fund’s travel partner, @alaskaair, for supporting the travel costs that made it possible for us to be there ✈️

It’s OCD Awareness Week (October 11-17)

We asked our storytellers with lived experience, ‘If there was one thing you could help people better understand about living with OCD, what would it be?’

Their answers say a lot: OCD is more than the habits and rituals people can see. It’s a constant mental battle with unwanted thoughts, and those thoughts are often the opposite of who someone really is.

Swipe through to read what Olivia and Jessica wanted you to know 💙

Understanding OCD starts with listening, and the more we hear lived experiences, the more we can challenge stigma and make space for understanding.

If you need any further support or are struggling with OCD, please find support services via the link in our bio 🔗

What a night, what a community, and what an incredible impact! 💙✨

The Blue Tie Ball 2026 brought our community together around a shared belief: every young person deserves the chance to look after their mental health, feel connected, and find support when they need it.

Together, we raised over $230,000 to help us back young people to show up for their mental health before reaching crisis point.

A huge congratulations to Mark Gresser @trek4youthmentalhealth, this year’s Harriet Nixon Memorial Award recipient, recognising his incredible commitment to raising awareness and funds for youth mental health.

To our sponsors, volunteers, partners, and everyone who joined us on the night, THANK YOU for making it all possible 🫶

Thank you to @ilumina.sydney for hosting us for the evening!

The night might be over, but the impact doesn’t stop here. Together, we’re building a future where every young person feels heard, supported, and empowered to look after their mental health. Here’s to the power of community and another unforgettable Blue Tie Ball! 🪩🐘 by @batyraus

You don’t have to reach a breaking point before you reach out 💙

Sometimes “I haven’t felt like myself lately” is enough to start the conversation. The earlier we make space to talk about what’s going on, the less asking for help has to feel like a last resort 🫶

“Just budget better” “Just log off” “Just move somewhere cheaper” - Sound familiar? 👀

Young people are navigating some pretty big challenges right now, and the solutions aren’t always as simple as we’re told. From housing affordability to digital wellbeing, these issues have real impacts on young people’s mental health. It’s time we stopped putting all the responsibility on young people and started listening to what they actually need 💙

Today is World Mental Health Day 💙

But why do we still need it?

Behind every statistic is a real person, a story, a young person whose experiences deserve to be heard. While we’ve come a long way in talking about mental health, the reality is that too many young Australians are still facing challenges, stigma and barriers to support.

This World Mental Health Day, we’re reminding everyone that awareness is just the beginning. We need to keep challenging stigma, amplifying young people’s voices and turning conversations into meaningful change.

Mental health matters on October 10, and every day after it 🧠🫶

So, the Federal Government has announced a Digital Duty of Care 👀

Before this, batyr sat down with the Wellbeing and Prevention Coalition and outlined 7 key asks for a Digital Duty of Care that could change the way digital platforms operate in Australia 📱

From putting human rights at the centre to making safety the default, these changes are about shifting responsibility onto the systems and platforms that shape our online experiences.

Because young people shouldn’t have to carry the risk alone 💙
