Bauerhaus is a UK-born DJ and producer
known for his infectious positive energy,
uplifting sets, and a natural ability to get
crowds dancing with fun, feel-good grooves.

His passion for dance music was sparked
during the deep house surge of 2010–2014,
discovering artists like Jamie Jones, Julio
Bashmore, Huxley and Dusky. That era laid the foundation for a style that has evolved
into a bumpin’ blend of house, disco, and
groove-driven rhythms, with further
inspiration from the likes of Folamour, Dan
Shake, Coeo and Bellaire. Bauerhaus also
explores deep and minimal sounds,
drawing influence from artists such as Kolter, Rossi and Toman making him a versatile choice for
both daytime vibes and peak-time club sets.

In the UK, Bauerhaus has played iconic
venues and events including Ministry of
Sound, Egg LDN, and Parklife Festival. Bauerhaus has also performed across Thailand, India and Vietnan. Now
based in Bali, Indonesia with a full performance KITAS,
he performs regularly at venues such as Red
Ruby, Mesa, The Room, Bricklane, Alternative Beach
Club, Lima Bay and many more.

Bauerhaus is a proud member of the Nowhere Collective (formerly See Solaris), known for high-energy daytime takeovers at Bali’s most vibrant venues. He’s also an integral part of the Chromatica and Oblivion collectives: both dedicated to curating a more educated, deeper sound that resonates across the island’s more discerning dancefloors.

Off the decks, Bauerhaus develops his passion for videography and content creation running a YouTube
channel with over 14,000 subscribers,
documenting his international DJ journey
and creating content that supports
venues and promoters. He’s also the founder
of the DJ Business Academy (@dj.business.academy ) where he utilises his business, sales and marketing experience in coaching DJs on how to land gigs and build sustainable careers with a results-backed
guarantee.

Above all, Bauerhaus is driven by one mission: to spread pure, unfiltered joy through music championing fun, connection, and feel-good energy in every set.

My first year of DJing in Bali has come to a close and it's been beaut. P.s. See below for everywhere I have played until now in Bali!

Best year of my life and I've had the funnest time growing as a DJ & performer and meeting some of the sickest, most inspiring folk along the way. From bars to beach clubs to nightclubs to rooftops. This is a quick vid showing a couple of the venues and parties I've played while here so far.

Musically, I mostly play:
House (Deep, Chicago, Classic, Vocal)
Deep / Minimal Tech
Tech House
Disco / Nu-Disco and jazzy funky bits
And I love groovy chill daytime sets and dark pumping nighttime sets evenly. Versatility is the spice.

Thank to all the bali venues and events below who have supported me so far! 🫶

This DJ mindset will stop you getting booked.

I speak to loads of DJs in DMs and on calls, and when I ask them what the main challenge is for getting better bookings right now, a good amount of them blame the scene. It's too focused on social media, too focused on how many followers you've got, too focused on your contacts, too focused on how many people you can bring to gigs.

Two things here. First, you're blaming external stuff instead of looking at what you can actually do, and that'll limit you in any area of life, not just DJing.
Second, that's the way the scene has always been. In the 80s and 90s it was exactly the same thing. It's an entertainment industry. It's always been about how many people you can bring together, how big your name is, how well your sets and your nights were marketed. Promoters did the exact same thing back then with the tools they had. Nothing about the entertainment industry has changed, only the tools have. If you'd given DJs in the 70s or 80s social media, the best ones would have been using it within a day, because they'd have seen straight away how much it could do for their career.

Now if you don't care about any of this and you just love music, well done, you've got a hobby. But you're going to find it really hard to build a career when you're fighting against the way all the best people do it.

If you want more bookings, focus on what you can do, stop fighting the way it's always been, and get on board with it.

Comment GIGS if you want a hand with that.

Promoters aren't counting your followers. They're working out how many people you'd bring.

When someone opens your profile before replying to your message, they're not judging your mixing. They can't hear it off a grid anyway. They're doing rough maths on whether your name on a flyer shifts tickets, and everything you send them lands differently depending on what that maths says.

Which is why follower count is a rubbish thing to be attached to. It's a receipt for a button someone pressed once, possibly two years ago, possibly at 3am after a good night. It tells nobody how many people saw you last month.

Accounts reached does. And most of that reach comes from people who'll never follow you. Instagram serves regular non-follower viewers your next post almost like a follower, and it stacks up, so someone who watched you in June is more likely to get shown you in July. You do this yourself. There'll be five accounts you watch every week and have never once followed.

So change what you're looking at. Insights, accounts reached, last 30 days, written down somewhere you'll see it.

That's your number for the next 90 days.
If it's lower than you'd like, that's a content problem, and content problems have fixes. Comment or DM GIGS.

Most DJs think there's a small, fixed list of venues near them worth approaching. There is typically much more. You've just never actually gone looking.

There are four ways to build that list properly. Start old school: walk or cycle round your area with your notes app open, and write down every bar, club, hotel, cafe and restaurant you pass. Then go to Google Maps, search "bars" in your city, note down every venue, drag the map to a slightly new area, zoom in and out, search again and note down the new places and keep searching. Do the same for clubs, cafes, hotels and restaurants. The list grows really fast.

Instagram is next. Search venues directly, but also look at DJs already playing in your city, see where they've played, then follow who they're connected to and where those DJs have played too. Every connection opens up more venues.

Then there's AI. A properly detailed prompt can hand you 200 to 300 venues in a city in one go, often with Instagram handles and email addresses attached.
Four methods, same goal. The DJs getting booked aren't finding more luck. They've just built a longer list than everyone else.

Comment PROMPT if you want the exact one I use for the AI method.

She went from 2,000 followers to 22,000 in a month and never changed her music.
She was already posting every day, so volume wasn't the problem. Same taste, same records, same personality. The only thing she moved was where the track drops.

Most DJ reels start with the music already playing. Beat one, frame one. I get why, you want to get them to the good bit. But a stranger who's already heard the track has no reason to stick around for the rest of it. They've had the whole thing in a second and they're gone.

Nobody opens Instagram to find new music. They open it because they're bored. So the story is the bit that gets someone actually listening, and the track is what they stay for.

Hook at zero, and make it a question instead of an announcement. "Is this the best house record of 1998" does something that "this is my favourite house record" never will. Then spend 30 seconds on where you first heard it and what it did to the room. Track drops around 40.

Half of them will scroll the moment it plays. Doesn't matter, you've already banked the watch time it took to get there, and that's the part being counted.
Try it on your next one and put the retention next to your last five.

If your reels keep landing on the same few hundred people, that's structure, not the algorithm having it in for you. Comment GIGS and I'll take a look at yours.

DJs, learning to produce won't get you consistent gigs for years.

It’s a difficult skill to learn and takes years to get good.

I know many producers who sit in their bedroom never playing out.

If your goal is to become a world famous artist then yes, you need to produce and commit to years of development in this.
But if your goal is to get more gigs this month, then you just need to do effective outreach and strategic networking and you can have more gigs in less than 8 weeks.

Getting DJ gigs and learning to produce are not the same thing. One takes years of grinding and a lot of success before it pays off. The other you can start doing this week. If gigs are the goal right now, effective outreach and strategic networking is the best lever, not the DAW.

They are two separate routes for two different goals:
more gigs now vs artist identity long-term.

Your first line is already losing the pitch.

The standard DJ pitch opens with: "Hi, my name is X, I play house music in Y city." That tells the booker nothing about whether you understand their night, their crowd, or what their programming actually needs. You've started with yourself, not them.

The pitches that get replies open from the booker's side. Something specific about their night. A gap in their line-up you can genuinely fill. "You push deeper stuff on Fridays. I've been playing that slot at a few venues and think my sound fits the back half of the night." That's a completely different pitch to one that opens with your genre list.

Lead with the venue, then yourself, then the ask. Small sequence shift. Completely different reply rate.

If this is where you're stuck, comment GIGS.

Getting your first DJ gigs is nowhere near as hard as most DJs have decided it is.

The belief is the actual problem. When I started I thought it's almost impossible, I would default to the safest version of trying, which is sitting on Facebook commenting on "DJ wanted" posts.

Two hundred DJs comment on the same post inside ten minutes. The manager reading it has no way of telling any of you apart, so nobody gets picked and you go back to scrolling.
Walking into venues feels harder. It's actually simpler, and it works far faster. From the venue's side, someone standing in front of them at 3pm on a Tuesday has already done more than every name in that comment section.

This was me for years. I avoided it because I didn't feel confident enough yet, and I waited
Do this instead. Write down every bar, cafe, restaurant and club in your area. Go to every single one of them in person, ask for the manager, and say this: "I love what you're doing with the place. My music would fit perfectly here, and I can help promote the night and make content for you too. Have you got five minutes to discuss more?"
Then film every gig you gert and post it.

Each one makes the next pitch easier by making you look busier.

If it's the confidence bit stopping you, send me a message and I'll help you through it.

Networking and supporting nights is genuinely the best way to get booked.

Turn up, get to know people, build real relationships. But at the biggest clubs, that's often impossible. There's no one to introduce yourself to. Everyone's behind a barrier, and the room might hold a thousand people or more.

That's exactly when the backdoor approach kicks in. Forget trying to get near the club itself. Go find the people who actually run it, the residents, the promoters, the collective behind the night, and see where else they show up. A smaller night, another job, another project. Support them there first, before you ever ask for anything.

Finding them starts online. Check the residents on the venue page, the names tagged on the flyers, who's regularly on the lineup, Resident Advisor and the venue's own socials. Can't find them there? Go to the night itself and watch who's clearly running the room.

One thing though: this only works if it's genuine. Pick venues that actually inspire you, and only chase people you actually want to get to know. Do it from ego, just because you want the gig, and it won't land. Do it because you love the music and want to learn from the people making it happen, and it will.

Try it this week. Pick one dream venue, write down its residents and promoter, then find one smaller night, or one other place they show up, where you can support them.

This is the backdoor approach. You're always targeting people, never venues, and it's exactly how we map out a booking plan inside DJBA.

If you're a new DJ and you're not getting consistent gigs yet, filming every single set should be priority number one. Literally. Every time you don’t do this you just wasted a huge opportunity.

No bookings coming in means the one thing you can't afford to do is walk away from a gig with nothing. Every set you play is free footage for your portfolio, and venues want to see you actually DJing before they take a risk on you. The more evidence you have, the easier everything becomes.

Here's what you need to do:

1.Buy a cheap tripod. They cost maybe $15.
2. Set up your phone on the tripod in your set, and hit record.
3. You need an audio recording as well. Either use Rekordbox on your laptop or the record function on DJ controllers, or if you are using a club setup, I would highly recommend buying the Howler Recorder - its a little expensive but its an amazingly simply piece of equipment
4. Then open up Cap Cup desktop free version, drop in your video file, drop in your audio file.
5. Highlight both files, right-click and click Sync Audio to Video.
6. Mute the camera audio, and now you have a perfectly synced professional DJ mix.
7. You can now upload this to YouTube and make shorter clips for TikTok and Instagram.

Do this for five different gigs, and instantly you look really, really busy.

Stop letting good sets disappear. Film the next one.
Free strategy call if you want help turning that content into actual gigs. Comment GIGS.
